The notion of the male can be multifaceted and diverse. The documentary The mask you live in, released in 2014, from the team that tackled female misrepresentations within media Miss Representation, explores young men and boys that are trying to negotiate their identity and masculinities while growing up within America’s narrow view of what it is to be male. The trailer points towards the notion that posturing and created masculinities leads young boys to grow up and miss out on establishing and maintaining the close relationships they crave (The Representation Project, 2013). I hope that this documentary will gain a following and start conversations in classrooms within the subject area of media literacy that allow new understandings to…

If you choose to write a narrative, it should be a story in which either you or someone you know well was actually involved. You should avoid stories that simply recount accidents. What I mean is this: a good story needs to have the element of choice in it. If you describe an accident, you need to show that decisions led up to it. This story should be about people, about the decisions they make and the consequences that follow.…

As a kid I’m not going to say I did not like school, because I get out the house and hang with my classmates at recess. Yet still was not a big fan of it, because the school work. I always wanted to go outside and run around than to sit down and read a book. I always wanted to go outside and run around then to sit down and read a book and write about it. In the fourth grade I did struggle with reading. I would read a passage, and do well until I get to a word and cannot pronounce it, then that mess up me reading the whole passage. It was pretty embarrassing. My teacher use to have the whole class take turns reading different paragraphs, and I would always raise my hand for the shortest one. Sometimes I did not get the part and get a part that’s longer. I felt as if she knew I was trying to run away from reading.…
