Key Issues
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
ABC has always been run as if it was a small organisation
On the shop floor there is concern due to the repetitive nature of jobs
There is a large staff turnover
There is a large absenteeism rate
ABC have not hired enough engineers
Inconvenient working hours
The sales department making promises to customers the engineers cannot achieve
• More money given for higher job status
• There has not been a performance related pay rise in 3 years.
• The workplace is also too hot
ABC’s rapid growth
• ABC has always been run as if it was a small organisation with very few policies and procedures
• Culture change due to rapid growth
• Issues can be resolved
Repetition
• One of ABC’s key concerns is on the shop floor where there is constant repetition in the work load
• Ideally this problem could be resolved by training the floor workers to become engineers a department that is short on staff
PSYCHOLOGICAL
CONTRACT
• The
concept of the psychological contract is not a written document
(Mullins, 2010, pg 14)
• It can be seen in the analogy of an iceberg
