1.1 PROBLEM STATEMENT
Focusing on the progression law in the FET phase to what extend it facilitate learning outcomes and the South African intellectually development to students?
This problem statement gives rise to a number of questions that summarize the main problem to be addressed by the present research.
1.2 RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1) What is the current level of learner achievement in South Africa?
2) What happen to progressed students after matric?
1.3 SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
The National Curriculum Statement Grades R-12 wants students to acquire knowledge, skills and values in South African schools. Curriculum objectives are to ensure that students apply knowledge and skills in ways that are meaningful to their own lives. The minimum average of knowledge and skills to be achieved at each grade are more significant in all subjects. The National Curriculum Statement Grades R-12 aims to produce students that are able to identify and solve problems and make decisions using critical and creative thinking work effectively.
