National Honor Scholarship Essay
National honors society is based off of four pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. My whole life I have been committed to learning; I have been in the top of my class since I started middle school. This year as a senior, I will be graduating with more credits than my school requires, an honors diploma, and multiple college credit. I have the privilege of participating in a new program at my school that allows me to take classes at a local community college expense free. I have taken advantage of this opportunity and am partaking in the challenge of learning a second language.
Outside of school I like to spend my time helping my community. As soon as I was old enough I started volunteering at my church's vacation bible school. Vacation bible school takes place the first week of summer and is available to kids ages 4 through 6th grade. When I was in middle school I helped out with the younger children and helped them make crafts during craft time. Starting my second year of high school, I was able to help inside the

My sophomore year I was part of a group call the kindness committee. Our group’s goal was to spread kindness around our school campus. We did this by making posters and starting a game that challenged our classmates to do certain tasks like “Give 5 complements today,” “Sit with someone new at lunch,” and “Say hi to someone new.” We started this committee in our leadership class, obtained our goal, and continued spreading kindness the rest of the year.
While doing all of these activities inside and outside of school, I have developed a magnificent character. I have developed moral, concerns, and have learned how to respect others. I learned how to lead by example and make positive differences in the world. The four pillars of national honors society have helped me become who i am today and I plan on continue serving my community in my

Some of the things that I am involved with outside of school would be the Make-A-Wish foundation, Tutoring, and activities with my church. I have learned a lot about my self through volunteering with these activities and have grown as a person. I would encourage everyone to try and pick one volunteer group that they feel passionate about and spend time-sharing your talents with it. I know it is something that you will not regret doing.…

I am a church member and musician at Revival Tabernacle. By being a musician, I find myself working with the talents and ideas of others as we come together on one accord and produce a skilled sound. I am also currently a student at Jones County High School. Being a student, I am a service to other organizations at school by being an usher for Graduation and also the Chorus Department. My recent involvement in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and DECA has enriched my knowledge of the business sector and how we all come together as a society and produce great ideas. In these organizations, I was able to be a holiday helper at local Nursing Homes to bring cheer to the residents. From my participation in these organizations and activities, I learned that it is better to give than receive. I was able to gain experience with dealing with the public and also give people a sense of comfort and love.…

The most important activity to me outside of school is my outreach program. This outreach program has been my rock and guide through high school. This program is designed to help under-represented high school students achieve their goals. This program helps students become successful and responsible through personal and academic enrichment, and I am one of those students. A lot of the focus is put on school and the main goal of getting into a good university. Even though it is much focused on school we also focus on the community and the environment. We do a variety of community service projects a month and even during the summer we are still doing community service. Two of the things we do very frequently is replant mangroves and beach clean-ups. Yes, school is important but this outreach program also teaches me that so is our community and our environment. This outreach program is so important to me because it has helped shape the type of person and student I am today. Before this program I didn’t care much about school but after going through some adversities and being in outreach my mindset changed. Outreach isn’t just a organization it’s a family and this family has been my support system all throughout high school. I personally felt like the outreach family was there for me even when my parents weren’t. This program has encouraged and given me tough love when it was needed. Being in outreach has pushed me to achieve goals that I never thought I could achieve. In the last four years I have learned a great amount of things about myself, life, the world, and how important my education is. I have learned a great sense of responsibility, ownership, and morals in outreach. The program has taught me to strive for personal and academic success. The biggest thing I have learned is that it is okay to ask for help. It doesn’t make me look weak to ask for help, it makes me stronger.…

While I go by the name Jacob, my real name (Seung-Min Lee) can be a clear give-away that I am of South Korean descent. Despite my birthplace being Daegu and despite my Korean heritage, I see myself simply as an American. It was at the age of three when I came to this country with my parents. My mother and father had make a myriad of sacrifices, including money and close-contact with friends and family, to settle in this land of opportunity. This was all done in return for a brighter future for me as well as for my two younger brothers, Peter and Daniel. While as a human being it is difficult to be grateful in every moment, the fact that my parents struggled so much for my future affects to this day in that it motivates me to pursue and work hard for whatever dreams I had since I understood that such a life should never be taken for granted.…

I believe I deserve the Bloom Trail Alumni Scholarship because with its assistance the cost of college will be more obtainable. Being able to attend college is important to me because it provides many opportunities for me in making sure I have a successful career and future. By attending college, I will be able broaden my horizon and grown not only as an individual, but more importantly I will be able to grow academically. This fall I will be attending Northern Illinois where I plan to receive my English degree along with my teacher’s certificate. With a teacher’s certificate I want to return to a school similar to Bloom Trail. During my experience here at Bloom Trail I have encountered many opportunities that have shaped these decisions. The diversity here has caused me to look at everything with more of a patient, open approach so I can understand the different personalities I come across. I also have met many teachers along my journey who have affected my decision to further my education in becoming a teacher at a similar school. Even though they probably could have found a job at a better school, they still decided to teach at a school where students need a little more work and someone who has a love for sharing their knowledge and wants to see students succeed. These are the kind of teachers who have pushed me to excel academically instead of just settling for the easy way out. Not only did they push me to do my best educationally, but to also break out of my “shell” that was holding me back from being someone who could one day make a difference in someone else’s life. Along with these skills, there have been several times I had a lot of pressure on me to meet a certain deadline all while managing the other aspects of my life. These situations have helped me to be a more disciplined and organized individual. With all the chaos of juggling two jobs, a social life, and school going on I’ve still been able to remain a reliable person. My teachers, friends,…

Through my activities, I developed, first and foremost, the ability to connect with younger children. I feel that the kids I worked with really enjoyed when I was there and I think that is a direct reflection of my being able to sacrifice myself to communicate with them. As far as my learning in general, I learned about myself as I saw how good it felt to do something for someone else. Just for the good of mankind, not for any other reason. I also think it helped me to learn how to work with other people. The kids, of course, but also my fellow students and my supervisors. In addition, I learned that my community as a whole is a pretty strong one, and I am proud not only to be a part of it, but to be an active member in the betterment of my community. Further, I hope to use my experiences through this community service activity to strengthen my ties within my community and I hope to be able to continue doing community service in the future.…

Outside school activities I am involved in are two years of Godparents, six months of working at a restaurant, and three years of reffing soccer games in my hometown. Being involved in all these activities and giving to the community is not a big role but I appreciate what I am a part of. In every activity I am a part of I try my all and try to be a good leader since every activity is mostly lead by seniors at school. I like to help out anyone that asks me for advice.Communication is not only about giving advice but also listen to others. Everyone needs encouragement to get to the finish and cross the finish…

During my years in university I've always enjoyed the extra-curricular activities offered by my school. I joined the Rugby team the first year and for the last two was appointed second captain and responsible for the teams trainings. Afterwards I joined the photography and film club where I was able to share my interest about movies with others. On my third year I wanted to help organize our university trip to Mexico, so I took the duties of treasurer and helped raise money to cheapen the trip. Doing so many activities helped me better manage my time and learn to prioritize in order to never neglect my studies.…
