National Honor Society
Being a member of the National Honor Society is a highly prestigious honor. I would love to be a member of this society because all of my life I have lived by a standard of nothing less than the best and I think that being in this organization will continue my journey of excellence. I want to be able to improve my communication skills and leadership abilities. To help the community through service activities and to be a good role model to other students so they can see that being a hard working student is a good thing. To also prepare myself for real-life situations and college by giving me experience and pushing me even harder to accomplish all that I can in high school. I have good communication skills. I am very friendly and hardworking. I love to help others and learn new things. I do not follow other people’s bad influences; I tend to do my own thing and participate in whatever I can. I am honest, respectful and I have courtesy. I would like to increase my leadership skills and be of more service.
Here are some examples of my service to my community. During my 8th grade year in Elena Christian Jr. High School, both my classmates and I, we decided to do a beach cleanup. We chose the beach across from Water Gut. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I volunteer and participate with the Junior Meteorology Club of Elena L. Christian Junior High School. I help with certain fundraisers such as; bake sales, car washes and collecting donations. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving person. I also volunteered at the Agriculture Fair of 2010. I was helping out the Virgin Islands Police Department booth, assisting the police cadets, police officers, lieutenants and as well as the commissioner. Both my mom and I, we donated funds for Haiti at the VIPD in Frederiksted.
I am really proud of the decisions that I have made to serve my community. I

One example of helping people around me was as captain for this year’s Park Girls Varsity soccer team. In my role, I had to help motivate the team, and help to build and fuel team spirit – both things that I really enjoyed. In addition, I have also been focused on helping my community. A few years ago when my Dad and I took a trip to India, I was able to help out at a school that my grandfather had started and work with the students in their classes. This experience inspired me to find ways to give back here in several different ways, both big and small. In sixth grade, I ran to be a representative on the Park School Service Council. I have continued in this role for the past two years, and this year, I was elected by my classmates to be a co-Head. This fall, I led an effort where the school made placemats for the residents of the Pine Street Inn, a homeless shelter in Boston, for Thanksgiving. What I loved most about this effort was it allowed all the grades to be involved, and for kids to do something more hands-on rather than just give a donation. And while it was a small gesture, the Pine Street Inn staff shared that it had a meaningful…

Serving my community is a huge part of who I am as a person. I love to give back to my community and help people around the world. I am involved in various service activities that impact my local and global community. Church and my youth group are a huge part of my life. They teach me how I should act towards others and, most importantly, teach me how to give back. I participate in several service activities throughout the year. The most meaningful ones to me include raising money for hungry children through World Vision, going on mission trips around the country to help people who are less fortunate, and being a PEER buddy in my own community.…

Throughout my life I have been involved with the community from soup kitchens, motivational groups and other areas that I have found needed to be a part of in my life. Civil rights, social actions, welfare and social services have been a motivation for both my lifestyle and my involvement because without people actively participating in these areas people that need service would be left with minimal to little resources. I find joy in working with others and being able to better understand the backgrounds that others come from to enable me to be a person people can come to for help without feeling distance or discomfort. Giving back to the community has proved to give me a feeling of purpose and worth, I show my gratitude to by becoming involved…

I used to go every summer to programs in the city parks and every morning we would clean the community for example going around the block picking up trash. For us it was a competition, since those who picked up the most trash would receive a price. During middle school I was also doing community service but not as much anymore since playing sports took most of my time. But once in a while I would volunteer for the Houston Food Bank, packing food packs for those in need. During high school I became the President of one of the organizations called The Humane Club. In this organizations, the other officers and I, would gather different students from the school and gave them community hours if they would go out with us and clean out the communities. We would all go out into the community and paint houses of people who were already old, we would cut their yards, and do any hard work they couldn’t do due to their…

Community service is a great way to impact the world through simply being there to provide your service generously. Community service is a way to give back. Over this school year I have been able to do a lot. In my first year attending ROMC I thought that finishing that many hours were almost impossible. I even thought about changing schools back but overall it was the best decision and experience and I am very glad to be Bulldog. During this school year I’ve tutored others from my previous high school, helped my former band instructors, develop relationships with exceptional need adults and elders, helping make younger kids who aren’t as gifted enjoy Christmas like everyone should, and giving back with volunteering at the zoo.…

In my community service, I would send out many different letters to all of the MADD recipients and ask for donations to support putting a stop to alcoholism. I did anything that was within my power to help the community in this area. I also learned many different ways to deal with people as I would encounter them. This experience was not only helping the community, but also helping me become a better person.…

I am a member of the United States Air Force and had the opportunity to serve on humanitarian medical missions. There are the most humbling experiences I have had. We bring medical care to remote areas, and give basic and extensive care to people that have never seen a doctor in their lives. The team of surgeons I served with was able to give a smile and a chance of a normal life to an infant that had a cleft lip. Seeing the reaction of their parents after they saw their kid was priceless, it does not get better than…
