other traits can make a responsible society. It benefits society to have mature young adults. Being responsible and respectful is best when practiced at a young age.
Service is the voluntary act of helping others without payment or reward. I love helping others because it makes me feel satisfied that I made someone’s day a little better. I went to the cys to volunteer for vacation bible school. Everyday for a week, I went to the chapel and taught kids new songs. I showed them no person is perfect and it was alright to make mistakes. Even though I was not paid for being there, I had fun and talked with other volunteers. My favorite part of the vacation bible school was assisting the woman that ran the music section of the program. She appreciated me being there. Service means a lot to me, helping other people is necessary to help them improve and even help improve me. Scholarship is being dedicated to education and having a good work ethic. In school, I work hard to keep my grades high. There is no such thing as being smart or ignorant. It depends on whether or not you actually try. People may stereotype me as a “nerd” or “try hard”. The only thing that is true is trying hard, it is what I am good at. In JROTC, I joined in the 2nd semester. It was difficult for me to memorize all the mandatory knowledge. I kept getting the questions incorrect for the first few couple of weeks. It made me feel dumb although I was not alone. I took action by creating flashcards and going over them repeatedly until I fell asleep. I had others test me to see if I could remember and I got all the questions correct. The next uniform day I was prepared. I got all my questions correct and scored higher on tests. Working hard is the key to success and scholarship. One’s personality and moral belief is what makes up their character.
Having character is being trustworthy, honest, empathetic and respectful. This means doing the right thing even when nobody's watching. I always search for the best in everyone because no one is perfect and we all have made poor decisions in our lifetime. I take responsibilities in my actions and others I am responsible for. It is difficult for me to admit that I am wrong but I still do because it is the right thing to do. I have had a friend who was suffering from depression and wanted to harm themselves. I was scared for them because depression is a disease and it is not their fault that they are like that. I had them speak to an adult and they are currently recovering. I was very scared that she had cut marks on her wrist because it could have gotten worst. I cried because I did not want to lose a friend. On a field trip, I found a five dollar bill on the pavement. I asked the first adult I saw who was slightly ahead of me if it was hers. She said that it must have dropped out of her purse when she was walking. The teacher was really surprised because she said I could have easily kept it for myself. I would feel bad if I took someone else’s money even if it was just lying …show more content…
around. Leaders are those who put other’s needs above their own.
Leadership is the capability of holding responsibilities over others and guiding them as a role model to make good decisions. They themselves should be able to make wise choices and have a positive outlook. I am a leader because I am the oldest out of six children. They all look up to me for guidance and I always have to set an example whether I am out of the house or at school. I also take care of them when my parents need to run errands. I have a lot of experience in telling my sisters they can not do certain things if it involves their safety, breaking of rules or is disrespectful. Respect is important to my family. We learn to respect our elders, parents and one another. If my sisters do something they were not supposed to do like color on the walls or eat junk food, I also get in trouble. It can be difficult but I have had responsibilities at a young age. Service, scholarship, character and leadership are all important and should strive to improve all
areas. Being a leader does not only mean telling other people what to do. It involves helping others be the best they can be. A leader should not complain if things are hard; they should do their best and not make excuses. I want other people to be inspired by good decisions instead of irrational ones. People should focus on the goodness of others and not fight over shallow issues. The position one is in does not make them better than anyone else. Integrity, dedication, and thoughtfulness makes up a good leader.
