Anand Shetler It is my belief that I am definitely qualified for the distinguished National Junior Honor
Society. I have exhibited great leadership, citizenship, character, and service in and out of school. The National Junior Honor Society is a highly reputable organization that I would love to be a part of. It is a wonderful opportunity.
I have maintained mostly A’s for my entire academic career, and I am currently in the
Gifted and Talented Program, taking advanced classes. I have been on the high honor roll in both 6th and 7th grade. In addition, I was nominated by my teachers for Student of the Month in March 2014. I play the trumpet, bugle, and acoustic guitar. I am in the Middle School Band …show more content…
and will be a part of the High School Marching Band in 8th grade. I was nominated and took part in the NJSMA Honors Band two years in a row. Also, I take part in soccer and I am starting tennis.
Outside of school, I have been in an FLL Robotics team for the past four years, and won two teamwork awards and a robot design award in the regional competition. In addition, I have been involved in Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America since second grade.
Currently, I am an assistant patrol leader, and next election (June 2014) I will be running for patrol leader. We go on camping trips once every month, and if a patrol leader isn’t around I take charge until he returns. Assistant patrol leaders and the other scouts in leadership positions have the responsibility of planning our weekly meetings, camping trips, and all other events we participate in. Over the course of two years I have attained 9 merit badges, including citizenship in the world, nation, and community. I have done community service through boy scouts by engaging in the Big Sweep which helps elderly people clean their yards throughout the fall season, rebuilding the sports equipment room in Academy of our Lady, and assisting with plant sales. Over the summer and throughout the school year I actively volunteer at the Glen Rock Public Library. At the library, I help with programs for younger children, shelve books, and any other chores that need to be
done.
I know these traits are all important in a candidate for the National Junior Honor
Society. I am confident that what I have accomplished makes me eligible to be a part of the esteemed National Junior Honor Society.
