The National Service Training Program (PLKN) is implemented to achieve the following objectives:
i. To develop and enhance the spirit of patriotism amongst youth ii. To encourage national integration and racial unity iii. To build character through imparting core moral values iv. To instill a spirit of volunteerism
v. To develop a young generation that is resilient, healthy and confident.
The teenagers that involved in PLKN are to go through four training module that is physical module, nation-building module, character-building module and community service module . Although these modules had different objective, however all the modules required teamwork of the participant from different races. For example, physical module is a module implemented to build the skills and endurance mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically to make the National Service Training Program Trainees as an effective citizens , thus a lot of sport activities will be include in this module. Sports are one of the effective ways to cut across all the differences between races in order to achieve integration and unity. Through sport, the trainees need to work as a team in order to win the competition.
Character-building module is a module that builds the effective characters for trainees. This module consists of two components, which are focus on developing the self and focus on one and another.
