National Unity
Jinnah's vision for Pakistan

While giving an interview to American press representatives in July 1942, when asked by one of the journalists whether the Muslims were a nation or not, Jinnah replied:

“We are a nation with our own distinctive culture and civilization, language and literature, art and architecture, names and nomenclature, sense of values and proportion, legal laws and moral codes, customs and calendar, history and traditions, aptitudes and ambitions, in short, we have our own distinctive outlook on life and of life. By all canons of international law we are a nation”

A nation is an aggregate of individuals living in a particular area having common historical back ground and pursuing common collective interests it is the community of purpose which keeps them united and gives them strength and prosperity. It is the achievement of his higher ideal which makes them forget their individual differences and interests and to work untimely for the realization of collective national objectives. This welding force in Pakistani community is Islam. It is for the glory and spread of Islam as the best system of life that the Muslims of Pakistan separated themselves from the Hindus. Therefore the secret of our survival and progress lies in holding fast to the rope of Islam. There is greater need of national unity in Pakistan because our powerful neighbour and enemy India has not yet reconciled to our independent existence. There are some other powers who cannot see an ideological state progressing close to their borders. The enemies of Pakistan have always been looking for some opportunity to weaken the national unity in the country and to disintegrate it.
The vital need of the hour is to strengthen our unity as a nation. It can be achieved by projecting the ideological basis for which Pakistan came into existence. Without further loss of time we should introduce Islamic system of life in our country because Islam helps in creating national unity brotherhood

I believe that nation is the foundation of identity to a certain extent . For example, if I asked people from the school what shapes their individual identities they might say things like; religion, ethnicity, language, or birth place. These are all examples of nations that we identify with; a nation doesn’t have to be defined by physical boundaries,a nation can be as simple as people coming together or being united by a common history, descent, language, or culture.…

Identity may be defined as a distinctive characteristic of an individual or a particular group of individuals. For one’s survival in this world it is very crucial to maintain his identity. If we expand the criterion of ‘identity’ to national level it is of utmost importance because it is nation’s identity which distinguishes its people from the rest of the world. The importance of national Identity can be better analyzed by the fact that it is the base of all the policies, i.e. domestic and foreign policy and hence the social. economic cultural and ethical development of any country partly depends upon its national identity. In other words actions of a nation are determined by its identity. As far as Pakistan’s identity is concerned, it may be divided into three phases, i.e. pre-partition, post partition and present day.…

These views of experts cannot be wished away since weak health of the economy is being mirrored by withering economic indicators, such as low Gross Domestic Product (GDP) due to very low annual growth rate of our economy (2%), rising fiscal deficit (5.8% of total size of economy), inflation (15%), lowest tax to GDP ratio in the world (9%), rise in foreign debts and government’s internal borrowings from the State Bank, rupee losing its value against dollar consistently, government’s failure in collecting taxes and utility bills and increasing poverty (40% people in Pakistan are living under poverty line). With these deteriorating indicators, in fact the economy would have gone down much earlier had the situation not been improved by rising foreign remittances, good agricultural output and favourable balance of payments based on increased exports and reduced requirement of imports. Fears of collapse of Pakistan’s economy notwithstanding, the deteriorating economic indicators suggest that immediate danger to Pakistan’s integrity is not from any other internal or external threat but from impending meltdown of its economy. Because, meltdown of economy causes crumbling of state institutions, breakdown of market mechanism/food shortage and resultant internal law and order situation of immense proportion escalating to civil war which may get beyond control of even state security apparatus which in such times is itself in danger of disintegration as members of security forces and their families are also hit…

Since the birth of Pakistan every government has appealed for national unity. Pakistan has run into crisis after crises, each graver than the preceding and unity has eluded us despite all the fervent appeals made. There must be serious reasons why crises should exist in abundance and not unity. These reasons need to be examined. Our country has been threatened by two sorts of crises-a general one affecting the world, but particularly Asia; and the other casting its gloom over the sub-continent. There is an obvious connection between them. Of whatever sorts the crisis may be and whether simple or manifold, the situation has, to be understood properly. The world in which we live is moving towards a culmination, which might be a universal catastrophe. It will not be just another Dien Bien Phu. This is the difference between Dien Bien Phu and the present crisis, between 1954 and 1968. We arc on the edge of a precipice. Below lies the valley of death. Must we let ourselves fall into it consciously by marching ahead to disaster or should we not draw back? There is no alternative but to pull hack. This does not entail a loss of prestige. It only saves this beautiful world from senseless destruction. Pakistan is caught in a whirlwind. As we look back on the twenty years of our existence, we find a dangerous tendency for international and subcontinental problems to get fused together. To maintain the view that crisis is the order of the day, a natural phenomenon of this restless age, is pointless. The prevailing demoniacal trend requires to be reversed. Ours is not the only country caught in the vicious circle of crises. Many countries have been able to settle similar problems and move on with added strength to other matters. The strength to move forward comes from the resolution of basic internal issues. Unlike many…

In August 1947, Pakistan was faced with a number of problems, some immediate but others long term. The most important of these concerns was the role played by Islam. Was Pakistan to be a secular state serving as a homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent, or was it to be an Islamic state governed by the sharia, in which non-Muslims would be second-class citizens? The second question concerned the distribution of power between the center and the provincial governments, a question that eventually led to the dissolution of the country with the painful loss of the East Wing (East Bengal, later East Pakistan, now Bangladesh) in 1971, an issue that remained unresolved in the mid-1990s.…

The main objectives of the nation-states are survival, continuation and multiplication. With regard to the fact that Pakistan was being termed as a ‘failing state’, it was unable to come up to the core objectives of nation-states. After General Musharraf took reins of the country, Pakistan was able to progress so much so that it stands today as one of the freest Muslim countries in the world with a totally-not to say stridently-independent Press and complete freedom of association. Although, military cover exists, Pakistan’s civil institutions are functioning as they have been previously. This has rarely been the case when military regimes exist.…

When Pakistan established in 1947, there were two main ideologies which were "socialism", supported by USSR (Russia) and "Capitalism" by USA, were being disseminating in the world, when the Indian subcontinent had demarcated in to two sovereign states, India without taking much time joined socialism; but Pakistan neither joined capitalism nor supported socialism. He wanted his own principles to be applicable and practicable, i.e. Islamic law where everything is in accordance with Qur’an law and doctrines. This was the reason which brings about an outlet for the rest of world such as USA and Russia to be interested in Pakistan to invigorate their own dominant ideologies (socialism & capitalism) here in. Further more for USA it keeps rather more importance in comparison, because the land lock country Afghanistan (where he was able to prevailed capitalism by defeating socialism in1988) has no passing way of its own. Pakistan in only country through which America could sustain and survive there over. Another big reason 'why the Pakistan is of so much importance in respect its Geographical location' Is because it occupies "four different culture" in its surrounding, namely Afghanistan with central Asian culture in the west; Iran with middle east culture in south; India with South Asian culture in East and china with Eastern culture in North Pakistan. Pakistan is important due to its location because it is neighbour country of Middle East and have common border with china, India, Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asia state of Uzbekistan. It is important for united state because it gives access to Afghanistan and Central Asia. It is important for India because Pakistan is a land route to Iran and other west Asian countries. Pakistan's coastline is also important because it is a warm water port and serves many landlocked countries too. It remains operational throughout the year. Some of the air routes between east and west pass through Pakistan therefore Jinnah terminal,…

    Why Do I Love Pakistan

Everybody loves his country because patriotism is a natural passion. We like the earth where we are born. We like it because it feeds our bodies, illuminates our minds and saves our souls. Here we live among our near and dear ones who share our pains and pleasures. We feel’s sense of security, closeness and companionship. Everything that it possesses belongs to us. Its beautiful valleys, high mountains, surging rivers and its values, customs and traditions all are dear to us. But my love for my country is not only because of these earthly and material things. I do love the scenic beauty of my country. But outer beauty is just superficial and temporary. It can attract permanently only when it has also some great ideal hidden in it. My country has this ideal which we call the ideology of Pakistan. And my love for my country is due to my love for its ideology. Ideology is a set of ideas, beliefs and doctrines that the people of a country want to follow in every field of life. As ours is a Muslim country, our ideology can be nothing but Islam. Pakistan movement was started in the name of Islam. Before the partition, the Muslim of the subcontinent were leading a miserable life in India. The English were their political rulers while the Hindus were their social and economic rulers. They had been living with the Hindus for many centuries. But the two nations had nothing common between them. Their religions, customs, traditions, cultures and languages all were different. They neither intermarried nor interdined. The friend of the one was the foe of the other. The English rulers always sided with the Hindus. After 1857 it…

A nation does not live by its big buildings, dams or factories. A nation can live it of its people. There is a proverb that child is the fathers of man. Who is this child? He is generally a school or collage student. So his constructive role is so important that he look like a serious father managing his household. Naturally a student of today is a responsible citizen of tomorrow. So it is easily intelligible that a student community taken together builds a nation. Take the case of the students of the Muslim Anglo Indian Oriental (MAO) collage of Aligarh. It is students built the nation of Pakistan. It was the only Muslim collage worth the name in the India subcontinent that produced those students who built Pakistan.…

“UNITY, FAITH AND DISCIPLINE”. Theses are the three words Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah gave us. Pakistan was to be built up on the cardinal principles of these words. The fight for Pakistan was a long and bitter one. In this Indo-Pak sub-continent the condition was against the successful application of the western democratic principles. The majority rule meant the assertion of the religious sentiments. It was necessary to find a different home-land for the Muslims in the shape of Pakistan. For this, unity among Mussalmans was a necessity being controlled by a faith. To achieve the end, discipline was absolutely necessary. Quaid-e-Azam, therefore, has given us these three words to stick to after the achievement of Pakistan.…
