In the story of “The Making of Gods and People” by Leon Garfield and Edward Blishen, the origins of human beings as well as their path to creation is revealed. In the beginning, Gaia, the earth, and Uranus, the sky, were the only two present in this universe. Thus leading to their first children, which were fifty-headed and hundred-handed giants (Garfield and Blishen 1).These children caused terror making their father banish them to Tartarus, the underworld darkness. Similarly, when they bore Cyclopes, which were mountain-sized humans with only one eye, they too were banished into Tartarus. Lastly, they gave birth to Titans, which are giant humans, and which were finally permitted to stay. (1)…

It is truly amazing to find out how much God’s love is to mankind is. HE is a supreme being, because how can we explain the knowledge he possess. HE is a God of new beginnings and HE has existed before the world was even created. The bible says “In the beginning, God…” there was no account of how HE came into existence and the whole idea of what we are seeing today has been predetermined by HIM and it is still very much relevant to our lives today.…

Once upon a time, God created a simulation video game based on evolution. It was a video game that gave the player (in this case God himself) many different ways on how to change the environment, along with other factors too. There were a type of species from the game’s selection of other species called Barbellus- which had an antennae and a fish tail. God decided to create a large number of these creatures that lived in the ocean of the video game. However, in this species’ early stages, both populations were simply known as Barbellus Primordius.…

From reading Mary Rowlandson’s captivity narrative and other English-language sources relating to Metacom’s or King Philip’s War, one can derive a fairly clear understanding of how English participants viewed the origins and outcomes of the conflict as well as how they wanted posterity to interpret the war. The English did not try to show the indigenous side, but a critical reading of the sources can give us some clues to understand the indigenous experience. The Natives had contrasting cultural and psychological views from the European invaders that caused them to initiate and eventually lose King Philip’s War, leaving the participants…

Throughout the bible, many of the attributes of God are shown. Both Jews and Christians have views from the bible on characteristics of God, each with their own variations. These both can be compared to Aristotle’s prime mover, as they include many similar characteristics. These characteristics however, do differentiate within the Judeo-Christian religion, and even in the bible.…

There are many theories about how the universe, earth, and humans came into existence. Some aim to prove the existence of God, that a large explosion created all life, or even that everything has just always existed. One of these theories works to answer questions about creation and prove the existence of the Christian God; this theory is known as the Teleological argument. To expand my basis of knowledge on this subject I consulted Matthew Esters, who recently wrote about the same topic.…

It is believed that Mary Rowlandson, a Puritan, was writing mainly to her beloved church of Puritan believers and to the Colony of Massachusetts. This conclusion can be made by examining Puritan beliefs and lifestyle. In this time, Puritan’s believed that God had already chosen His ‘elect’ or ‘saints’ at the beginning of creation. In order to be recognized as the ‘elect’ of God you must prove yourself worthy; this can only be validated by a person’s behavior and daily denial of sinful temptation (Bedford/ St. Martin 's , 92). So, after having being captured by ‘Indians’ or the heathen as she called them, she must prove to the Puritans that she is one of God’s elect. In her book, she wants to let everyone know that even during her time of captivity, while she was living amongst the heathen, she did not become infiltrated or indoctrinated with the Indians beliefs and yet remained true to her faith with all of the temptation that surrounded her daily (Rowlandson , 112).…

To explain the Characteristics of our creator is hard and yet so simple. God is Our Father and that is exactly the kind of relationship he desires to have with us. He is the King of Kings and yet he takes the time to know us personally. God is the creator of the universe and everything in it. He is a loving and forgiving God who truly wants a relationship with each of his children. The Bible tells us that he is also a jealous God and he expects us to put nothing or no one before him (Exodus 34:14 KJV).…

The essay will focus upon the first person of the trinity, God the Father. There is a presupposition that God is knowable, yet not discoverable by human reason. God is known only by divine revelation and, although the works of creation and Providence reveal the existence of God, the ultimate source of divine revelation is the Word of God. God is best known in Jesus Christ as John 14.19 which states that he who has seen me has seen the Father that is reveal through the gospels. God has revealed Himself as existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God’s revelation of Himself, however, is in no way essential to the accomplishment of His works.…
