The nature nurture debate has been a traditional argument for centuries between numerous psychologists. The debate questions whether human abilities are innate or obtained through experience. All through history, psychologists have not been able to come to an agreement with the debate of nature and nurture. The three schools that I have encountered all differ in terms of their own theories and thoughts. Structuralism mainly supports the nature dispute, suggesting that the experience of an individual is internal. Nevertheless, Behaviourism mostly shadows the nurture side of the argument where by theorists believe that behaviour is influenced by the environment. Overall, Psychoanalysis can be seen as both Nature and Nurture. It refers to the psychosexual stages that Freud developed, which is evidence of the nature debate, with the development of children. Also the Nature side is also drawn on with the theories that involve biological instincts such as the 3 part personality Structure. However, we must be cautious when interpreting different theories; as they cannot be proven whether the debate they shadow is right or wrong, since each psychologist has their own studies. For example, Freud and Jung proposed the Unconscious mind; but still had their own views and differences about the topic itself.
