Nature is your genes, your predispositions, your biology, which you have inherited from your parents and this cannot be influenced by the environment. Nurture is your environment, it is your parents, home, school, neighbourhood, society, and culture. This can be influenced. This concept argues that human development is the result of genetic inheritance or environmental influences (devonk11, 2013). It is hard to say what has had a greater influence on making me the person I am today. I am a shy introverted person and so was my mother, I cannot say whether I inherited this or learned this. I remember my mother telling me as a child that I was not good at maths because I ‘took after her’ and so I was never good at maths. I could have been predisposed to difficulty with numbers through genetics and my mother nurtured this idea. My father was an alcoholic and the side of nature would suggest that I would have an…

Think of serial killer. Does he kill because it is in his genes? No matter what his parents did to raise him; he would have been a violent, serial killer no matter what. On the other hand, did his environment shape him to be a serial killer? Such as, his parent’s did not pay him enough attention, or he was abused as a child. Nature and nurture are factors that have come to be recognized as playing or interacting roles in development.…

Nature vs. Nurture is the controversial debate among Social Scientists about which one has a greater influence over the development of a human. Nature is the influence of inherited biological characteristics on human behavior as well as the influence of our genes. Our genes design an orderly sequence of biological growth processes called maturation. At one time, it was believed that people behaved in certain ways because they inherited behaviors from their parents. Nurture on the other hand is the process of training and influencing a child through learning. It is the influence of our environment and experiences and how they shape us. “Nell” is a story which clearly supports the nurture argument. Nell shows several examples of how her behavior has been influenced by her environment and experiences.…

Let’s talk about the whole controversy between Nature vs. Nurture. Nature is based on DNA. Many people believe that it is DNA that decides on how humans will behave, what occupations they will have, and what their personalities will be like. Others, on the other hand, believe that it is the environment, or nurture, that decides on occupation, behavior, and personality. Although nature does decide on what color hair you have, what eye color you have, and what your height is, nurture has the greatest impact on humans and influences people the most to different kinds of activities, meet different people, and the difference between what is right and wrong.…
