Nauplius Stage 1: A Case Study

Nauplius stage 1: (Figure4)After 24 hours of incubation, three pairs of cephalic appendages appeared - pair of first antennae, second antennules and mandibles(Figure 4). Due to the presence of yolk material brownish orange color of nauplius were observed. No external food source was required as they fed on the yolk present inside. The pear shaped median eye (pinkish red) was anteriorly situated in the centreof head of undifferentiated sub-conical body along with blunt posterior end. Slight median notch at the position of anus was observed.
Antennula- 3 unjointed setae containing two of equal length and one of slightly shorter length. As Antennula helps only in sensory function in order to show direction [16].
Antennae- exopodite with 6-7 undifferentiated setae was observed. Setae tapered in external exopodite direction towards the thoracic region.
Naupilius stage 2: (Figure5) After 48 hours, 3pairs of appendages showed development in formation of setae as well as there was somewhat appearance of thoracic appendages. The body showed clear differentiation into head, thorax, and abdomen .The color of Artemia changed into whitish pink. Polygonal shaped eye emerging from head was observed.
