Nature is what we are born with. What we inherit from our parents, for example - Hair colour, eye colour, some illnesses. (Although you can inherit illnesses you will not definitely become ill, you are just have a higher risk of becoming ill) Nature is also known as Genotype.
Nurture is how our Genotype is affected by environmental influences. For example - You inherit blonde hair from your parents, but you dye it a different colour. Nurture is also knows as Phenotype.
SIGMUND FREUD - PSYCHODYNAMIC APPROACH.
Psychodynamic - Past experiences influence current behaviour.
LEVELS OF THE MIND.
Conscious - Where we actively think and perceive things around us. It is what we are currently aware of and can recall.
Pre-Conscious - Where we store memories and information. People can access this information with a bit of thought and prompting.
Un-Conscious - Where desires or fears that we are not currently aware of are stored. e.g. Immoral urges, Past experiences.
PARTS OF THE PERSONALITY.
Id - Me, me, me. Doesn't know boundaries. Is the 'child' part of the personality.
Ego - Balances the Id and Superego.
Superego - Follows the rules. Says no. The 'parent' part of the personality.
The 3 are usually balanced but if the ego favours the ID a person can be self-centred, very immature and ignorant of others. If the ego favours the Superego a person would be very conformist, always following the rules and saying no.
