ABSTRACT
Introduction. Nebulization is a process of adding fine drops of moisture or fine particles of medication to inspired air. This study attempts to determine the adherence to AARC (American Associate of Respiratory Care) nebulization guideline by the Philippine Heart Center Respiratory Therapists. Methods. A cross-sectional descriptive study (survey) was used in this study. The researchers included all RT staff and service patients given nebulization treatment in Philippine Heart Center at Adult Service Ward. Results. All of the RT staff respondents had less than 10 year’s length of service in the hospital as therapists. 5 out of the 20 had less than a years of service, 8 out of 20 having 2-4 years of service, then 5 out of 20 with 5-7 years of service and 2 out of 20 had 8-10 years of service. All RT staff respondents are Non-Supervisory with ward assignments. The RT staff respondent differed in the following results: 18 of the 20 patients any observed RT’s assessing patients verbal response, 15 out of the 20 observe RT’s assessing regarding this symptoms as Dyspnea, 12 out of 20 this RT’s observe the respiratory rate, 14 out of 20 this RT’s observe respiratory excursions. After treatment 15 out of 20 patients observe RT’s to ask for any favorable or unfavorable response, 16 out with no observing RT’s informing the nurse/MD of treatment.
