Negative Effects Of Disney's Tutoring
In conclusion, Disney serves as a major educator, of all ages, towards those who decide to view their ultimate guidance. Through the lessons of morality, gender studies, and foreign culture, Disney educates the people on the values upheld within each sector and their integrity within society. Of course, Disney’s “tutoring” can be interpreted as either positive or negative depending on the outlook held towards the values. Despite this being very subjective, I believe Disney’s teaching to hold a positive impact on society and should be maintained at a lofty extent in order to preserve a culture of reinforced constructive character. In sum, professor Disney teaches the people lessons that should be followed by society as they hold positive values

When Walt Disney started his company his goal was to “produce great visual entertainment” (Igner, 2008). An idea that quickly took off like a wild fire and grew into a dynasty. Disney still encompasses the visual media but also includes the additions of parks, resorts, consumer products, television stations, animation departments, and movie picture organizations. Each department has goals, missions, and values, but they strive for the same espoused values: “Innovation, Quality, Community, and Storytelling. Optimism, and Decency”. (Sklar) All these values are engrained into the employees by a university they created to teach each cast member (employee) who they are working for, why they are working there, what their goals should be, and how they should carry out their work. This paper will cover those espoused values that Disney strives to reach on a day-to-day, year-to-year, person-by-person basis; and also discuss the enacted values that take place in the magical Never Never Land.…

In Susan Willis article "Disney World: Public Use/ Private State," she makes the claim that Disney World is too controlling by stating that, "If your idea of heaven is a place where you need only relax and wait for someone to take care of your every comfort and amusement, and where no unexpected surprises can crop and destroy your enjoyment, then Disney world is for you" (Willis 650.) Disney World provides the illusion for visitors that they have entered a picture perfect world. In this paper I will analyze Susan Willis article through evidence of control by the way in which everything is done for them, the way trash is a controlled element, and how the advancement of technology presents itself in our society. Disney World provides society with the notion of a perfect world by controlling it with theses elements and is used as a break from everyday life.…

While researching on this subject I came across Dr. Alvin Poussint & Dr. Henry Giroux who both have views against Disney and there huge power of controlling the minds of our younger generation. In the movie Mickey Mouse Monopoly , Dr. Alvin states “Children have been raised for generations now on Disney” as our society continues to grow, we evolved in the way(s) we learn, communicate, live, etc. They claim that many Disney movies encapsulate the younger generations as they evolve and that they continue to bring the same base message to each generation. Since the 1930’s messages from the film industry have sent created certain types of messages to each generation. The question is, has Disney really made that much of an influence on our society’s as Dr. Alvin Poussint & Dr. Henry Giroux have claimed? I believe, to a very light extent they certainly have an interesting opinion, but they have also stretched a little too far. After studying the movie Aladdin I began to see how certain negative condensations of woman and how it came across to the viewer. Possibly, because I’m a man and that I look at this movie a certain way. But when I reflect watching the…

Racism: discrimination which exemplifies stereotypical differences between the ethnic groups to which people belong. While Disney animated films are the ideal family movies, it is undisclosed to many that such racism is being portrayed. Disney’s movie Aladdin (1992), “was a high-profile release, the winner of two Academy Awards, and one of the most successful Disney films ever produced” (Giroux, 104); however, what is often disregarded is the obvious depiction of careless racism towards Arabs seen in the illustrations of the characters, the statuses into which they are placed and the lyrics of the opening song near beginning of the film. Furthermore, with the movie disguising itself as innocent and wholesome, children are exposed to these stereotypes at a young age.…

The opposing side might state that Disney is just playful entertainment, not meant to be taken seriously because in no way is Disney will influence a child and their behavior as an adult. However, their movies, products, music, and morals behind each film define a child early on. Between the ages of two to five a child grows physically, mentally, and emotionally more than any other age, according to WebMD. Watching the racist messages intertwined within the colorful displays Disney has created a brand that can warp attitudes of people early on to create prejudice. In The Mouse That Roared Henry A. Giroux discusses the apparent racism included within Disney’s animated films, and he writes, “One cannot help but wonder what is ‘wholesome’ about the overt racism Disney displays toward both African Americans in the notorious racist The Jungle Book and Arabs in Aladdin, the retrograde gender roles at work in The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, the undisguised celebration of antidemocratic governments and racism (remember the hyenas, who sounded like poor blacks and Hispanics?) evident in The Lion King, or the nostalgic portrayal of gas-guzzling, humanoid automobiles who inhabit an asphalt world that could easily serve as an advertisement for ExxonMobil in Cars.” (Giroux,…

As children, we’re influenced to think similar to the rest of society and follow traditional ideas established by past generations. These customs are portrayed throughout our surroundings including: religion, social media and, as the video demonstrated, Disney movies. Through these elements, children are taught about social expectations within our community. Boys, for instance, learn what a “real man” is through the impact of their culture and the prominent ads within social media. I, like many others, was unaware of the affect society has on the way I perceive those around me. Our perception and morals are shaped and innate rather than “second nature” (Ferris and Stein 2014:77).…

Walt Disney had a vision and did everything in his power to make this vision a reality. The process he went through to get the empire he developed showed how he changed and transformed as a leader. Disney’s dreams became true due to the fact that he had the four main leader characteristics. The four main leader characteristics are: vision, rhetorical skills, image and trust building, and personalized leadership (Northouse, 2013). Disney had lots of charisma. In his line of work, animation for children and adults, charisma is one of the main ingredients in what made Disney so successful. Not only did he have charisma but he also embodied inspirational motivation. Disney motivated people through his animation and helped portray his ideals. These motivations and ideals helped shape society during his “rein” in the animation world. Not only was Disney the main animator in Hollywood, he also developed programs to help children develop artistically. Disney wanted all children to have the opportunity to succeed…
