The lackluster response to the Annapolis meeting might have been repeated the following spring, but for the violence that erupted in Massachusetts over the fall and winter. To Hamilton, Shays' Rebellion was the direct and inevitable result of the weak national government. The attempt by Massachusetts to pay off its war debts on its own had resulted in a crushing tax burden, especially for farmers unable to produce the required gold or silver currency. The consequence, in Hamilton's mind, was predictable: lawless mobs, assaults on property, and anarchy.…

One of my favorite narrative is a movie called The Hungry Games. In this narrative movie there is a lot of problems all build up onto one big problem, but there is only one solution to it all. There is a lot of action and adventure that happens in order to solve the characters problem. The main problem is in order to save the village that each character lives in they have to fight against each other, and win the fight. The way they are chosen is each child in the village name is put into a jar however many times they go out to buy something. Once there name is selected or drawn from the jar they have to get sent away where they are to fight other children from different villages. On the ride to the arena they are persuaded with food, nice…

Naturally parents will want to see their children do well. Sometimes though in an effort to keep their children safe parents inadvertently hold their children back from exploring the world around them, lessening their chances to learn and progress. While it is understandable to want to shelter children from harm, parents who are over protective can sometimes limit their child’s potential.…

When they send their child off to college they try to still helicopter them as much as possible. Some parents force their kids to major in certain things because they believe that is what will be the most beneficial to them even if it is something that does not interest them or even if they do not want to major in it. If you force someone to major in something that they have no interest in then it can make it hard for them to be successful in college because they will lack the motivation needed. Also, even when they do graduate from college they will be stuck doing some job for the rest of their life that does not interest them and they do not care for.…

Parents who expect more out of their children fortify these behaviors using positive and negative reinforcement. For example, parents with higher expectations may require children to perform more difficult tasks before they are rewarded. This will cause the child to exert more effort to gain the wanted reward. Negative reinforcement may likewise be applied to children so they will reach their intended expectations. Possible negative reinforcements children may incur would be corporal punishment, time-out, and loss of pleasurable stimuli such as games, T.V, et…

It has also been shown that physical punishment is not always a result of children's undesirable behavior. Moreover, it is the result of extraneous pressures on the parent. It has been shown that financial problems, unemployment, and stress are all directly related to child abuse. This displacement of aggression from the appropriate source is particularly destructive because it is conditioning without a prompt to act on. When a child is continually punished for doing nothing wrong, punishment carries no real weight. When the child does begin to show undesirable behavior, it will then be unpreventable by means of physical punishment. All the child has been conditioned to fear is their parents. Displacement can also occur in the victim of the punishment. The child cannot strike back at its parent, so to displace anger; the child may lash out at siblings, teachers, coaches or others who do not threaten physical punishment in return.…

Parents fail to see the long term actions of they're overbearing parenting. Wemberly, a high school women's basket ball couch still remembers when a girl was driven incessantly on the basket ball court in order to get in to a college, but once she got there, she'd only last a year. With so much of the students grade based on their parents fighting and working for them, they find them selves ill prepared for independent life. “he [the student] get into a big program, rides the bench, has a stressful experience and feels like a failure”(Nevius pg. 307) says Former high school counselor, Mike Riera. When they get in to college, and find out that a 70 on a paper means you got a 70, they find that real life, the one with out the benefit of their parents doing everything for them, its a lot harder then what they are use too. Or consider parents that got learning disabilities for their children. According to the College board, extra time on a text only helps if you actually have a learning disability, but if you do, there's really no difference other then they got extra time. “if you don't know it, you don't know it” says educational psychologist McClure. By constantly providing an unfair advantage to your child, your setting them up to fail once they're on equal footing and on their…

As the children grow up they tend to do things that other children do, being influenced, and starting to hide stuff from their parents. Sometime children are really aggressive because they didn't get what they wanted so they start to abuse the other children or young people. Sometime it is just that they think that everyone else doesn't know what is good for him/her so they just want to do their own choice, but they don't know always was is good for them so they end up doing bad things, like smoking, drinking, drugging, etc. which is going to affect them maybe for all their lives. Personal choices made as a child and young adult effect nearly every aspect of life. From education to family planning - poor choices can lead to poverty and few opportunities, while good choices can open up a world of possibilities. Family experience as a child can very much play a role, but young adults are fully capable of taking responsibility for the life choices they make. In accordance with Article 13 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, the outcomes of the Governments Every Child Matters framework and the Early Years Foundation Stage, children should be provisioned for by ensuring that children are involved and engaged with, allowing them to be heard, to make decisions, contribute their experiences and be supported and safeguarded throughout their development. According to Tassoni (2010) the EYFS clearly states that a curriculum for children under five years should be balanced of adult-led and child-initiated activities; an environment needs to be rich in resources and displayed in such a way that the children can determine their own play. . An early years setting should encourage healthy snacks and encourage parents to supply healthy balanced lunchboxes. The setting should involve the children in activities and discussions about the importance of…

No war has killed as many American men as the Civil War. This is because it was a war between ourselves. Leading up to the war were disagreements about slavery and Presidents and other things like that. The South on one side, and the North on the other. When Lincoln was elected, who the North wanted as President but the South didn't, all hell broke loose. The South attacked northern troops at Fort Sumter and thus began the Civil War. In this war the North had almost every advantage but still the war went on for 4 years.…

In conclusion, extreme parenting can harm a child. Children need adults to discipline them, and they need structure, but they need permissive structure. Not harmful structure. As kids get older, they get less motivated to do the work when they know they are going to get the same treat every time. The children would start to think that is is not worth all the effort to get a reward they have gotten several times before. Parents should motivate their children by letting them recognize that in by doing well in school that they were awarded with good grades. By showing the child that you are proud of their good grades it could motivate them to want to continue. Every once in awhile parents could reward the child for continuing to do well in school by taking them somewhere…

If children are exposed to the notion that they shouldn’t be successful or that they aren’t capable of achieving success they sometimes grow up to meet those expectations. For instance Indians aren’t expected to be highly educated and successful people, “We were Indian children who were expected to be stupid (Superman and Me).” Indian children aren’t expected to be successful in the non-indian world. Meanwhile children who are expected and encouraged to overcome stereotypes and obstacles to become the very best that they can be are often able to accomplish success. For example if teachers encourage students to push themselves to advance their reading it may just be the motivation they need, “I very tentatively suggested that, since she was a skillful rider and loved horses, she might like to read National Velvet...She tried it, and though she must have found it quite a bit harder than what she had been reading, finished it and liked it very much ( How Teachers Make Children Hate Reading).” By encouraging his student to push her limits he became a role model and a source of motivation, and by doing so she was able to advance her reading and later was confident enough to attempt reading Moby-Dick. “My father loved books, and since I loved my father with an aching devotion, I decided to love books as well ( Superman and Me).”…
