The process of the war may have lasted for nine to twelve years if it was not for the drop of the bomb. According to the article called “Pages from President Truman’s diary”, Truman states, “He and I are in accord. The target will be a purely military one and we will issue a warning statement asking the Japs to surrender and save lives. I'm sure they will not do that, but we will have given them the chance”(Edsitement). Japan was warned that they would get bombed, so after the bomb dropped, Japan later decided to surrender. The surrender helped save people’s lives and also help speed up the process of the war. If the war was still going on, people’s lives would be on the line and more lives would have been lost because the war would still be going on.
