In Sam Raimi's Spiderman 3, the hero archetype is demonstrated through the antagonist Peter Parker. The need of a hero shows that people in today's society are in need of saving and are not capable of protecting themselves. This in itself is something that people should be considered about. It clearly reflects that people are becoming dependent on others to save them and are not able to be independent. Not only is it an extremely selfish act of the people, but all the responsibilities are then dropped onto one person's shoulders. One person can only withstand so much responsibility before they cannot take anymore. This responsibility forces Peter to make unfair sacrifices in his life. The hero archetype also shows the generic dasmil in distress which is rather degrading for women. This archetype shows how irresponsible today's society is and how things desperately need to change.…
As the readers see Superman is all the characteristics of Jencks quote. In 1940s Superman was an example of men back then they did the hard work but in the movies and comic books of Superman he wasn’t the only strong person in there, Lois Lane was the strong women in Superman. Jencks reference regarding the social structures in the society. Lois lane would be getting into trouble to find the detail to write her report Superman would always have to rescue. Her actions in the 40s weren’t right back then the women’s were barely getting there rights to vote or to do the thing that men would be able to do. Bitzer defines this as exigency, Lois would overcome the structure of the women rights and show that women can do more than they thing.…
Superheroes know the difference between right and wrong. The whole point of having a superhero is because there is a villain to face, an adversity. There can be no good without evil. If there is nothing to fight for, nobody will reach a new potential to fight for it. Whenever a villain is attempting to impose a reign of terror amongst a population, the superhero steps in and gives it his all to ensure the safety of the people. They are constantly proving who they are and what they stand for. If superheroes were real, they would be a definite figure to look up to considering how much adversity steps in their path, and how they show no fear and they would give their lives for the sake of people. If you think about it, what made them want to be a hero in the first place? There had to be some form of evil, some adversity, which made them want to be the ones to save everyone else. Super villains further prove this point because they also have great power, do they not? Who knows what set them off wanting power and destruction, but something we aware of is that their adversities are our heroes. Our heroes stand in their way, so the villains are constantly coming back for more, always trying to prove themselves superior. Their characters, their entities, always build off of each other. For heroes and…
Neil Armstrong, Clark Kent, John F. Kennedy, Professor Charles Xavier, Gandhi, Chuck Norris, Master Yoda. The men mentioned above are fictional or real characters with quite a few things in common. They are all heroes in their respective universes, they fight for what is good, and they are all experts in their fields of profession. In fact, they are the supposed best or the most renowned at what they do. Neil Armstrong has to be the most famous Astronaut of all time while Clark Kent’s alter ego, Superman is arguably the greatest superhero there is and if not, he is definitely the most famous. Chuck Norris is the best ass-kicker in the world while Professor X is the greatest telepath in the Marvel Universe. JFK was a great president, Gandhi changed revolution, and Master Yoda taught nine hundred years’ worth of Jedi Knights. Yes, these men are all very talented and very powerful. However, these outstanding heroes have one more thing in Common: they all fall nothing short of insignificant to the power, intelligence, and capabilities of Dr. Manhattan. Dr Manhattan’s powers and abilities include immortality, shapeshifting to any form he chooses, seeing the future, reading minds, teleportation, and bending matter to his will. He practically has no physical weaknesses. Superman and Yoda could possibly put up a fight but that’s another story.…
Alfred the Great, Winston Churchill, and David Beckham are British men who were given the title of “hero” for their feats ranging from conquering nations to being the first Briton to win league titles in four countries. But what makes these men heroes? According to Christopher Reeve, an actor portraying the character of Superman in movies, “A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt, or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway” (“Quotes”). This quote by Christopher Reeve encompasses the life of many British women, but how come when the term “hero” comes to an individual’s minds, males are more often listed than women? Could it be that the accomplishments of women…

Even further, each man encounters a situation with a god and they intervene in their fate. The gods play a prevalent role. Either by strengthen or by changing their course. For example, Gilgamesh insults Ishtar by telling her she does not want her love so she punishes him by sending a Bull of Heaven to kill him. Gilgamesh however, defeats the Bull of Heaven, “I am Gilgamesh, I destroyed Humbaba who lived in the Cedar Forest, I grappled with the Bull that came down from heaven, and killed him.” (9.29-33) Gilgamesh still acting pretentious and presumptuous then upsets Ishtar, “Woe unto Gilgamesh who slandered…

In modern day the idea of a hero is that the hero will bring the villain to justice for the common good of the people, but the hero in The Odyssey Odysseus was starting to become selfish of his fame. Superman through his journey, alway stood for justice and the people. He proves this when three criminals from Krypton, General Zod ,Ursa and Non fly to Earth and plan to take control. After Superman hears news of them, he comes to save the day. This event shows that he does this for the people not for himself. By including this event, the writers are appealing to the idea superhero in the modern day world. However, when Homer wrote The Odyssey the idea of a hero was different. In event shows that Odysseus is proving to have fallen into his fame and reputation, becoming selfish “ Soften some beeswax and stop your ship mate’s ears so none can hear, none of the crew, but if you are bent on hearing, have them tie you hand to foot in the swiftship so you can hear the sirens’ song to your heart's content. But if you plead, commanding your men to set you free, then they must last you faster, rope on rope”( XI, 213 ). Here Odysseus is talking with Circe, Circe is warning Odysseus about the sirens and what path would be safest to take. But when Odysseus tells his crew, he lies to them saying “friends…..it's wrong for only one or two to know…
Have you ever met an unjust hero? Our heroes are not selfish nor do they put themselves first. We as a society are their priority. Heroes are not cowards, they do not shy away from a challenge or someone in need. Never do the heroes push you to the sidelines. Unlike braggarts heroes are humble. “I’m not interested in the Heroes or the Villains. I’m interested in playing the people” (Anson Mount). The most crucial roles in society are played by ordinary people.…
Do you think that it is possible for superman to be as popular if he wasn't a immigrant/ orphan?…
As a result of these points, Clark Kent, also known as Superman in the movie Man of Steel, demonstrates correspondence to that of Jesus Christ. Some of the most noteworthy similarities range from being raised by non-biological parents; Jesus’s father Joseph and Clark’s mother and father, use his powers to help humanity and save lives, much like Jesus was sent to die for us, and neither are from this world but take human form. They both were willing to give their life for the sake of humans and are both figures we should strive to be…
The Punisher, Robin Hood, Batman, and Superman are some of the characters that we stereotypically constitute as heroes. They are known to fight with courage without fear of death. They destroy the enemy within a blink of an eye. They fight using their own body strength, superpower, or some kind of weapon. They come to the rescue miraculously and leave without a trace. They are mysterious. We are unable to identify who they are underneath the masks and disguises. Yet, we praise them and ignore the real heroes that surround us regularly, ordinarily. “All of us …like to believe that in a moral emergency we will behave like the heroes of our youth, bravely and forthrightly, without thought of personal loss or discredit”. In other words, we are quite oblivious to the ordinary people of the world that are, in fact, the true heroes.…
Superheroes are created for people to imagine the impossible and to think that there could be a person that spectacular in the world that they can look up to. However not all superheroes pose as good models for children in all things that they do to help society. Captain America, however, is an exceptional example of what a good superhero should be like. He is a positive role model for others, especially children, because he has never given up for what he believes in, he has good morals, and he has pure intentions for the actions that he plays out.…
Superheroes are thought to have the best intentions, motivated to protect society from evil. Masked and unnamed, they use their super powers for the good of the people. Some comic book heroes do not fall under the stereo-type but live double lives with a dark memory. In Tim Burton’s, 1989 adaptation of Batman, Bruce Wayne attempts to balance his life. By day he plays millionaire playboy figure and by night a crime fighting vigilante. He dresses as a giant bat, out to avenge his parents’ wrongful deaths. Bruce Wayne is just a socialite that has too much money and time that fuels his need to play hero caused by the chip on his shoulder from the traumatic experiences he went through as a child. People in our society often use money and their political status in corrupt ways to get an edge on others by elevating themselves.…
