Life without art is stupid. Art is a one way to express the concept behind a story. One of the premier American sculptors, Mark Hopkins, communicates this in his work Forgiveness (2002), for its flowing and dramatic style. In comparison Negative no more (2009) ,an artwork created by the arabian artist Shadia Alem express through the media of lighting and projection. The aim of Alem’s art work as compared with Hopkins is to transfer the concept of casting off negativity through the use of movement that is conveyed through texture and space.

Further, Shadia purposely illuminated her work from the black veil cloth to focus on her struggles of bringing life back to the light in a stirring way. Alem uses specific texture to capture the scene of the golden Ferro area. To illustrate, she uses the silky fabric to distinguish the warm colours that represent the light of the negative atmosphere in which of how the darkness overwhelms the identities of the world. Additionally, Alem attached more than three thousand strips of negative photos and a minimum amount of film rolls ,all shows the negative photos that were attached by hand sewing onto the fabric. In addition, Alem took advantage of the empty place for her to cover the wall area with the fabric and manipulated with light and shadow to emphasis the concept of the narrative. In other words, Alem utilised the black veil cloth in her artwork by attaching it to the wall to create the negative spaces for the media’s eye’s. The sculpture is made out of a limited edition of bronze. Hopkins sculpture Forgiveness is a representation of a female pacifying the male of something terrible he done. Furthermore, The swirling form of the sculpture is found vague because of the curved movement and the expression of the faces. The movement is direct in this artwork where the eyes can follow the dramatic curvaceous of the sculpture. The action of the man’s movement is to symbolise tenderness and softness of smooth talking while as the woman symbolises silentness and perplex. However, at the same time the women shows acceptance of his apology. The movement of the sculpture differentiate the viewers as if the man is larger and taler than the women. The hand gesture of the man is to clarify the gentleness and courtliness. While on the other hand, the women is bewildered of forgiving and to confront the negative emotion that she poss.
