Negative Speech: Teachers Arming Teachers In The United States
There have been many innocents of where demonic people choose to walk into a school full of loving people and just shoot them. Recently there was a massive shooting in Florida, resulting in 17 people dead. Students, teachers and family members that witnessed this tragic situation happen or just the parents who will not be able to hug their children(s) bye before school in the morning spoke out to this country and to the President that they have had enough, and they want something done now. Many people argue that they should ban guns just like other countries have to prevent any shootings of any kind, but President Trump has an idea stated in “Trump suggests arming teachers as a solution to increase school safety” by Dan Mercia. That teachers …show more content…
If you were to ban all guns like some people protest that would not fix the solution. As for example, marijuana is illegal but a large number of citizens have it. Just because it is illegal does not make it stop. If everyone followed the law and did what they were supposed to do then police men would be out of their jobs. Also, as Dan Mercia states about Trump, “his political base of republican’s voters, overwhelmingly disapprove of most gun control actions and the president has enjoyed the support of the NRA”. Trump beat Hillary in the Presidential Elections because America wanted his ideas. When he was running for president he did not want to set any gun controls. Trump is a republican and the republicans voted for him so setting gun laws would not resort in …show more content…
From looking at source C it is a visual representation of “mental ill people” and it shows a picture of a person captioned with “mentally ill people do not kill people” and then shows another picture with a person holding a gun captioned with “mentally ill people with assault weapons kill people.” There are plenty of mentally ill people out there and not everyone with this illness has gone to a school and shot citizens up, also not all of whom shot up schools had a mental illness. I disagree with the fact that guns are the problems because you can make a weapon out of anything if you tried and there are way more weapons out there that are not guns that are just as easy to get as guns

Arming teachers will also increase the operating cost of school districts that are already short on funding. We hear each year that schools are being forced to cut back programs for the students or the salary of teachers. By arming teachers we would add to that cost by requiring firearm training for those that are authorized to carry a firearm. Additionally will the school district use their own range as law enforcement does? Who will have the qualifications to operate this range? If teachers don’t have their own range there will still be added costs to use a range to train or qualify teachers and staff. Adding more costs to school budgets will only decrease the level of education that children receive by cutting educational things out to make room for arming teachers.…

The issue regarding arming teachers in schools has been a really hot topic lately with the numerous shootings in schools and on campuses. Many schools are asking themselves if they should go through with training teachers and staff and some schools have started doing so. Even though most schools have not allowed teachers to carry a concealed firearm, some teachers like Kelly Blake, a teacher of agriculture at Fleming School in Colorado, reports that she “wants her students to be protected at all times.” Other teachers along with Blake have looked at the arming teachers situation like this as well because they feel like they have the right to bare arms and protect themselves. Picture a class of twenty elementary students hidden under desks around the classroom, and the teacher is begging the children to stop sobbing. Down the hall the sound of gunshots ring out the sounds of people screaming and begging for help can be heard. The shooter is moving closer and closer to the area and all the innocent soon to be victims are defenseless. There is nothing in that classroom that is going to stop what is about to happen. Now imagine a teacher with a handgun that could at least scare off the shooter, or deter them from advancing into the room. Many people frown upon teachers being able to carry a handgun on school grounds, but if they only knew that the thing they frown upon could possibly be saving their kids life. It makes perfect sense that teachers should be able to carry a handgun if and only if they go through the proper training and tests.…

Scared whimpers, teary eyes, and fearing for your life. This is what you would experience if a school shooting were to take place at your school. One thing that has been happening in schools is open fire, killing and wounding others weather that is the teachers or students. Tragedies like these are some of our worst fears no one would ever want to be stuck in the middle of a school shooting. So let's stop this from happening with giving teacher the rights to carry concealed weapons. The reasons we are going to let this is happen is because teachers will be prepared for an incident to happen, some people live to far away and it would take a long time before the police get there, students are going to feel more safe knowing that their teachers are armed.…

"School districts considering arming teachers and school staff with guns would take on significant responsibility and potential liabilities that I firmly believe are beyond the expertise, knowledge-base, experience, and professional capabilities of most school boards and administrators," Trump said. He added that school board members, superintendents, principals, teachers, school safety experts, and public safety officials he has talked with around the nation consistently do not believe that educators and school support staff should be armed.…

Major and minor causes collectively led up to this event and bring up the question of whether or not this tragedy could have been prevented. The NRA play a key part in the debate over gun control, and parents play a vital role in instilling future generations with respect for handguns and being involved in their lives. The gun control laws do not solve the real problem which is the gun owner. Even if we have strict gun control laws that doesn’t mean the crime rates will go down or the school shooting will stop. If a criminal wants to kill someone they don’t have to have a gun to go through with it. It is just as easy to grab a knife or make a small bomb. Most criminals that want to shoot and murder people already have lengthy records and wouldn’t be able to pass a background check if they tried to purchase a gun legally. And even if the criminal does have a clean enough back ground to purchase a gun, one study reveals that most of them fear purchasing a gun legally because they know that it could be easily traced back to them. Instead the people we should be trying to stop are buying their guns on the black market. Most of the criminals that were interviewed during the study even distrusted so called internet sales on guns because they feared they were sting operations and they’d wind up trying to buy one from and ATF…
