There are major aspects of Utilitarianism that some people do not agree with. The first one is that Utilitarianism, which prevents or eliminates suffering, should have greater importance over any act that can increase the happiness of someone already happy. Some recent Utilitarians have changed the theory to limit moral obligation to the prevention or elimination of suffering that is often called negative Utilitarianism.
On the other hand, Ubuntu is an African culture, which expresses compassion, dignity, harmony, and humanity in the interests of building and maintaining community. The word Ubuntu comes from a language called Bantu, which means “I am what I am because of who we all are”. Ubuntu calls on its followers to believe and feel that: Your pain is my pain, my wealth is your wealth, and your salvation is my salvation. Meaning everything is shared, in all aspects of life. And through our interaction with other human beings; we discover our own human qualities. A person with Ubuntu is welcoming, hospitable, warm, generous, willing to share. Such people are open and available to others, they are diminished when others are humiliated, diminished when others are oppressed, diminished when others are treated as if they were less than who they are. Ubuntu talks about the fact that you can't exist as a human being in isolation, it states that we are interconnectedness. You can't be human all by yourself, and when you have this quality, you are known for your generosity. The major Ubuntu principles are service to the community, the sharing of resources, and being caring, respectful, honest, and trustworthy in one’s relations to others. These principles emerge from the understanding that our existence as human beings only becomes meaningful through our relationships with others, including the larger community.
There are two major points that helped shape the philosophy of Ubuntu. The First one is that they believe that a human has to accept one’s humanity by recognizing the humanity of others and then establish respectful human relations with them. The second point is that when someone is faced between wealth and the preservation of the life of another human being, then the person should pick the preservation of life.
