Neonatal Nurse Essay
All over the world, newborn babies are fighting for their lives with the possibility of not surviving. Without the suitable training and education to protect the premature babies, there would be a lower rate of survival. With that being said, becoming a neonatal nurse comes with multitudinous responsibilities, making sure the babies are getting the required treatments and being properly cared for. The educational steps needed to become a neonatal nurse will be a long bumpy ride, but it does not mean it is impossible. Michele S. If pursuing this career is an option but hesitant for the final decision; then you could always look into another occupation that have similarities. For example, a cardiac care unit nurse works with people in critical conditions. They care for adults or children recovering from serious medical problems including illnesses and injuries; most in demand nurses in this field (Becoming a Critical Care Nurse). Just like a neonatal nurse they care for severely ill babies, but instead of just providing care for the earlier bloomers; critical care nurses can help both the young and older ones. Another occupation that relates to a neonatal nurse is a hospice/ palliative care nurse. They are able to collaborate with other health providers such as physicians, social workers, and chaplains (Nurses for a Healthier Tomorrow). This profession is another important job that requires many responsibilities. Similar to a neonatal nurse, these nurses are holding a patient’s life in their hands; hoping they can put their professional assistance to work. These highly qualified nurses meet the needs of the patient and family facing terminal illness and bereavement (Nurses for a Healthier Tomorrow).
