In this case, the author didn’t use a lot of description to build a mood, she actually used very little to none. However, this still had the same effect. This is important because her lack of description of the months that pass without Edward helps show the deep dark depression Bella goes through without him. It helps show the nothingness and helplessness that she feels. Finally though, on page 93 there’s one small paragraph about how time passes so slowly for Bella. It talks about how time passing, no matter how slow. This is important to the book New Moon because it shows how the pain she goes through when Edward leaves isn’t physical. It helps build a depression like mood. Stephenie Meyer also used inner thinking to help build a mood. When Bella notices somethings going on with Edward, she becomes very worried. This is important to New Moon because Bella’s inner thinking shows how her worrying makes the problem much bigger than it already is. It helps make the reader feel the chaos going on inside her head. This is important because most people would be extremely worried in her situation but she is only worried about Edward.
