In “Health Effect of Vegan Diet” by Winston J. Craig in the American Society for Nutrition in 2009 amplifies how a nationwide poll conducted in 2006 show 1.4 percent of American’s to be vegans. Craig claims that within this 1.4 percent most are women who have converted based on the hormones and growth stimulates that are injected into their meat. Craig explains how vegans typically have higher “fiber, magnesium, folic acid, and vitamin c”, which are all nutrients that help fight diseases such as cancer, heart failure, and diabetes.
