Upon analysis, we found that while diverting demand to other regional airport may provide some short-term relief to throughput (average inflow rate of planes), it cannot be sustained in the long-term, as growth of demand is only to be delayed, not eliminated. Next, building a new runway was identified as an effective solution. Despite its initial fixed cost of $100 million, it can help Logan save $5,196.92 and $251,739.36 per hour of delay avoided under adverse and severe weather, respectively. Furthermore, peak-period pricing was also identified as a viable solution by decreasing the variability of inflow rates – as a result, its incremental benefit is projected to be $57,037,500 in 2015.…

For decades, the only things launching from Boca Chica Beach in Brownsville, Texas were ospreys and seagulls. Today, however, a new battle is brewing over this ground. The space company SpaceX has identified a remote spot on the southern tip of Texas as its finalist for construction of the worlds newest commercial orbital launch site. The company should only revoke its final jurisdiction on settling their company in this ill-fated town, and find a place more adept to the situations that will be placed upon the city involved.…

    • 6 Pages

Paternalistic management was used quite frequently in the past but has now unfortunately dwindled down to only being used in small organizations such as family owned businesses. Paternalistic management is basically a type of autocratic style with emphasis in benevolence, morals, and values. Paternalistic management helps develop every employee’s sense of self worth which reduces the employee turn-over rate and promotes increased employee productivity which in turn helps develop a strong and thriving organization. This management style forces leaders to step up their performance in the area of listening, decision making, and leading by example. Additional information and a quick look into Southwest Airlines will prove that through the use of the paternalistic management theory, any business can boost organizational performance through the use of basic values.…
