Our National Health Service is one of the most precious institutions we have. We all know it, because all of us have been touched by it. I will never forget the care my son Ivan received and the inspirational people who helped Sam and me through some of the most difficult times. The consultants, the community nurses, the care team – every one of them became part of our lives. When you have experienced support and dedicated professional care like that, you know just how incredibly special the NHS is.…
I am honored to be considered for membership in the National Honors Society (NHS). As I have become more acquainted with NHS, I have become more excited to be a part of this organization. I believe the NHS has a significant, positive impact on our communities and being apart of this is important to me. If I am privileged to be admitted to NHS, I believe that I will be able to make a notable contribution.…

Leadership is in many ways a responsibility, whether it’s an appointed job as a leader or a role you find yourself in unexpectedly you must perform adequately not just to accomplish the given task but to also have those following you achieve a given goal. Some are natural born leaders, taking responsibilities for self, never pointing fingers and possessing the ability to find solutions to the obstacles that arise. Others can learn how to lead and achieve the same results. In the medical field, when we look to our leaders it is so that they can lead us to be able to provide and deliver safe quality care. To help us remove obstacle when identified, that may hinder set goal, which is, as mentioned to deliver safe and quality care. Within the profession of nursing, we may find ourselves thrown into the role of leadership at any given moment, the nurse must be prepared to take this role, embrace it and behave appropriately. Especially as an interdisciplinary healthcare worker, it is very important to communicate effectively while leading others to achieve a common goal.…

There are very few people who are lucky enough to be a captain of a team. I am one of those lucky few people. On April 12, I had an audition to try out for a Color Guard Captain position. I had been waiting for that day since early February. On April 15th, the captains were announced. I heard my name, looked at Makayla Hurt, she heard her name, and we could not believe it. Over the weekend, I thought what can I do to help improve the team. Well I can improve skill, change attitude for the better, and how will the decision I made along with our coach of me being a captain affect the team.…
I believe in conducting myself with integrity. It is imperative that I exercise good judgment in all my endeavors whether it is personal or professional. It has been said that you are only as good as your word. This is a mantra that I live by. I am also a firm believer in honesty. With integrity comes honesty.…
In freshmen in high school, my coach told me that I was taking charge of the team, since the captain was absent. At first, I was excited that I was able to demonstrate my leadership qualities, but then pressure was piled onto me as I try to figure out how I should behave. However, I took a minute think back to what my captain typically did for warm-ups. What I found was my teammates taking me seriously and respected how I started practice.…
Second, I feel that I have very extensive leadership skills. I have no doubt that I would be able to aide our team to the full potential that I know is yet to be fully discovered by the members. We have the resources and foundation to be an amazing team that I know every girl on the team would love to be. I believe that I can escort our team to that high with my positive leadership skills. Some of these are positive encouragement, constructive help, good teaching skills, and…
I do my best to maintain a good rapport with my team members. I would say that they are comfortable approaching me if they need assistance. I encourage them to learn and accept new tasks assigned to them. I don’t stop to make everyone an in-group member in our unit. However, based from my observation, I will find few team members who are not motivated to excel themselves not because the leader isolates them from the in group members but because they prefer to be in the out-group situation. They choose to do less because they don’t want additional responsibilities. Nevertheless, I am a persistent charge nurse, I assign them new tasks to accomplish so they can benefit from the learning experience. To add to their confidence, I assured them with my presence and my willingness to help. It can be tough sometimes on my part because sometimes I end up spending a lot of coaching and monitoring them closely so they can be successful in completing their tasks. I am getting good job results from team members but inconsistently. The outcome of my leader-member relationship may not be of high-quality yet due to my being task-focused. But it is my hope that through this subject course I will be able to adopt or apply the different styles of leadership regardless what type of situation I will undergo at…
Having the ability to lead others is essential in today’s world. For approximately the past two years, I have been the team captain of my high school’s robotics team, the Combustible Lemons. The team has competed in a number of regional, state, and international under my leadership. However, our robotics team wishes to be well rounded, so we do more than just build robots; therefore, we also commit ourselves to service for our community locally and abroad. Although being a leader can sometimes be difficult, I find great pleasure in being one because it is challenging, it is useful, and it is influential.…
Leadership comes from the ability to make the wrong call, and athletes know this. We have all had to make a decision with no right choice, and sometimes we carry out the task and don’t get the result we have been trying to find, this causes us to be stronger and except we did all we can do. The athletes that can be leaders will be able to be more efficient in so many different aspects of life. Athletics create a sense of discipline that our generation is much in need of, and the more disciplined we become the better the world will turn out to be. Living in a world where our attention spans are shrinking and we are not able to adapt very well, the commitment we achieve through athletics can save us. Commitment is a combination of determination through discipline and knowing somebody relies on you. Athletics will teach the younger generation to withstand more difficult tasks. Athletes can be stronger people able to accomplish more without being broken down so easily, and that is why we need to start preswaying kids to join athletics, not be afraid of them, because in reality there’s nothing to be afraid of, the risk is greater outside of…
I have been part of Barrington High School’s track team for all three of my high school years and I intend on being on it again next year. As a varsity member for the duration of my track career, I have had the opportunity to be a leader on my team through positive energy and hard work. By working hard and continuing to have a positive attitude in both meets and practices I have been able to lead by example and have a positive impact on our track program. Other than my leadership role within track, I have been a leader by volunteering in my schools “broncos committed” program. Through this program, I have been able to attend middle school events, encouraging up and coming freshman to live a drug and alcohol free lifestyle once they enter high school. Being a leader is something that is important to me because I can make a difference by setting a good example for the people on my gymnastics and track teams as well as the other people in my…
Other than academic studies, I play sports like soccer, basketball and badminton. I have an interest in cycling as well. I have represented all the schools I have attended in national badminton competitions. The best result my team has achieved is the championship trophy we fought hard for and won in the year 1999 when I was the captain of the C? division badminton team (consists secondary one and two students) in my secondary school. According to Vernon Law, ?Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.? I held leadership positions in my secondary school and junior college, and these opportunities to lead has provided me with invaluable lessons on leadership and communication skills. I have certainly learnt a great deal on effective communication within my team and with the teacher-in-charge. The organisation of several school events that…
In 2007, I was roped in by a school back home in Delhi to train its girls' volleyball team for an inter school tournament. The tough part was – BalBhavan School had never had a team before and I only had a week to get a team together. I was given no clear objectives, just asked to do as much as I could. But I had a clear vision , vivid picture of where to go, as well as a firm grasp on what success looks like and how to achieve it. Not just that I shared it and acted upon it.I myself defined my objective which was to create a pool of talent that would serve the school better in the years to come and also perform decently in the tournament a week later.…
