He was always by his father's side and gave him everything he could to keep him alive and well. One day Rabbi Eliahou came to Eliezer asking if he had seen his son and when Eliezer said no he left just as fast as he came. Eliezer knew that Rabbi Eliahou’s son had felt that his father was growing weak, he had believed that the end was near and left his father who was only a burden which could lessen his own chances of survival. He was now scared that he would abandon his father so he prayed and said, “my God, Lord of the Universe, give me strength never to do what Rabbi Eliahou’s son has done.”
Survival was vital for Eliezer and other Jews in concentration camps. Everyone did what they had to do to survive and were so desperate to stay alive that they committed the most horrendous acts. Burning innocent children, hurting your loved ones, and unfairly punishing people were only some of the horrible acts committed.
