Night Time Symbolism

Another symbol that is used the book is night time. The phrase “Night has fallen” is used frequently throughout the book. In the beginning of the book, night was not peaceful. Night time stood for horror for not knowing what will happen that night or the next day. When Elie and many others from his neighborhood were shoved into cattle cars, they did not know what night would bring. The first night in the cattle cars, Mrs Schächter screamed “Fire” at the top of her lungs, waking and scaring the others in the cattle car. She screamed the same thing every night.
