Henry Selick (Coraline, James and the Giant Peach) directed the movie, with Tim Burton as a writer/producer (a poem written by Burton inspired the movie). This stop-motion animation film features Jack Skellington (voiced by Chris Sarandon), the “Pumpkin King” of Halloweentown. Jack is tired of scaring people, and he sees a chance for that to change when he accidentally discovers Christmastown. He plots to kidnap and replace Santa, giving him rule over Christmas. However, Jack’s plan goes horribly (and sometimes hilariously) wrong. However, don’t let the fact that it’s an animated film stop you from watching this movie. The difficulty of good stop-motion animation is incredible, and the levels of dedication and talent required for this movie will amaze you.
