COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES:
In 1960, Phillip Knight who was founding Nike wanted to own the running shoes which had both cheap and quality of the Japanese. By 1964, he and his friend William Bowerman spent $ 500 to enter Tiger company’s shoes in Japan to the U.S and began to develop some ideas for their own product.
1. Technology “Nike Air”
Nike Air cushioning is appeared in the most form of Nike shoes. We shared a number of different types of Nike Air.
- AIR - Air cushion provides a comfortable stride. Nike Air is almost always encapsulated in the mid-sole or shock absorbing liner. Nike’s technology was officially launched in 1979
- MAX AIR – Max Air technology is a form of Nike Air cushion, contains maximum air volume for maximum impact protection. It is always seen in mid soles.
- ZOOM AIR - Zoom Air base is located in one thin flat, providing the softness, and meets the requirement of high speed and sprint.
- TUNED AIR - Tuned Air is a new cushion which is combined mechanical elements into a maximum Air soles.
Advantage: Nike Air lightweight, flexible, lasting softness.
Lightweight: Nike Air systems are lighter per unit volume than other current mattress base.
Flexibility: pressure, position, thickness of Air sole is designed for every need of every sports or athletes.
The long-term: Each system maintains its properties under age buffers shoes.
The smoothness: Each Nike Air system include compressed air, pressurized Nike Air pads to provide softness on the first insight into the performance.
2. Product
From the start, Nike focused on the development of shoes for jogging and playing basketball with high quality and affordable price. However, after that, Nike decided to set up specialized unit of market research and focus more on design for tastes. Over time, Nike gradually expanded the market, the product is not only running shoes, basketball shoes, but also all kinds of shoes for other sports such as golf, tennis, hockey, women's shoes, shoes picnic.
