Opportunity Statement

Nike has agreed to sign a contract to sponsor an Indy car as part of a two-year investment. Nike believes they have a great relationship with shareholders and customers. However, the company would like to improve upon the social relationships with customers. Nike is one of the premier athletic wear companies in the world and has intentions of developing its image into new markets.

Motorsports is the fastest growing sport in the world. IndyCar has established itself as the ultimate partnership between state of the art automobiles and their sponsors. In regards to athletic wear, Nike has established itself as one of the elite brands in the world. The Nike sponsorship of an IndyCar is a visual representation of our plan to move into new markets, and will quickly become the most recognizable teams in auto racing. The driver for the team is Helio Castroneves, a three-time winner of the Indy500. Together, Nike and Castroneves form an unstoppable team.

Situation Analysis

Auto racing is the most popular sport in the world. It is also the fastest growing and most watched. The racing league consistently draws tremendous involvement from both businesses and consumers. As a result, Nike had decided to sponsor Johansson Motor Sports driver Helio Castroneves. The series in which we participate offers premiere venues and highly desirable demographics for Nike.

In part through this new sponsorship, our goal is to establish Helio Castroneves as one of premier team drivers that the racing industry has to offer.
