Carbon dioxide is naturally present in the atmosphere as part of the Earth 's carbon cycle. Yet human-related emissions are responsible for the increase in CO2 emissions. The use of electricity accounts for 37% of total U.S. emissions, while transportation 31%, industry accounts for 15%, residential and commercial 10%, and other non-fossil fuel combustion 6%. That is 99% of the total globe greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the United States increased by about 7% between 1990 and 2013. (EPA, 2015) Not leaving out pollution also a contributor of increases in anthropogenic CO2. These things are the cause of the earth heating up, or global warming. Trees and plants help soak up the CO2 in the atmosphere but with the tearing down of trees to build industry buildings, residential and commercial buildings there are fewer trees and plants to take in CO2 for photosynthesis.…
The author, “Contoski, asserts that global warming is scientifically unproven and that the facts reveal that the earth periodically experiences changing climates” (Global Warming Is a Myth). Contoski “denies that carbon dioxide emissions have any noticeable impact on global temperatures claims that human-made emissions are insignificant when compared to carbon output of natural sources that have always been beyond human control.” (Global Warming is a Myth)…
Notable author, educator, and environmentalist, Bill McKibben, in his essay, “Global Warming: Get Up! Stand Up!”, argues the effects on global warming to the environment. He argues from his environmentalist experience that carbon dioxide is not only harming the ozone layer. McKibben’s purpose it to persuade readers to stand up for what they need and start a movement. He takes a defensive tone in order to inform the minds of his readers. In McKibben’s article “Global Warming: Get Up! Stand Up!” states the growing problem of global warming and urges readers to start a movement to end the problem.…
In the reading ‘Global Warming” by Jill Egan the author explain how the Carbon Dioxide(CO2) is setting a layer on the atmosphere that is blocking the heats waves to get out, causing a global warming alert that could destroy a million kinds of plants and animals by the year 2050. According to studies, about 20 percent of the Earth's land area could be affected by this phenomenon .…
CO2 is one of the main gases contributing to global warming, which is scientifically proven to accelerate the natural process of climate change - currently the most serious environmental and…
The idea of climate change, for many, is an opinionated subject with much discussion of whether it is a real issue or just a natural phenomenon. However in recent years it is clear to see that trends in the Earth’s climate and surface temperature has spiked to levels never seen before. Despite all the evidence of the high levels of greenhouses gases and the rise in temperature, many still believe that there is no connection between the two, and that the Earth is just going through its natural cycle.…
3. The gold-salt trade develop between West Africa and North Africa because first of all they were lucky because they had camels to travel on. Well, the gold-salt trade develop between West Africa and North Africa when the Berber-speaking people began crossing the Sahara desert. From the eighth century and onward, annual trade caravans followed routes. So that is how the gold-salt trade develop between West Africa and North Africa.…
Global warming is currently the most controversial issue. The debate over global warming has been going all around the world and it seems endless. Depending on one's political view, whether a person is a liberal or a conservative may consider global warming as the biggest challenge facing humanity or one may dismiss, saying it is not real or may simply claims global warming is a hoax. However, there are strong, credible evidences that indicate the extreme and unpredictable weather pattern we have been witnessing like extreme heat, drought, storm , retreating glaciers and the melting of the arctic sea ice, and rising sea level due to climate change caused by human activities. Governments and people around the world should hold hand in hand…
There are always two sides to every story and every different point of view has a right to be heard. When it comes to the discussion of global warming there are two very distinct points of view. The world seems to be split between global warming being caused by humans and it being a natural occurrence. This paper will discuss the two views in depth, followed by my opinion about the global warming phenomena.…
Controversy over global warming exists as a dispute regarding the nature and consequences of global warming. The theory of global warning as presented in the mainstream media currently assumes that carbon dioxide is an atmospheric greenhouse gas and since humans are producing more carbon dioxide than previously, the temperature must therefore rise. The cause of global warming is not actually known, but in it 's simplest terms the debate boils down to whether or not global warming is caused by human interference or part of a naturally occurring cycle. The debate has recently become one-sided in favor of human interference due mostly to three factors: political pressure on scientists to produce research that supports the global warming theory, public misconception of what scientific consensus is, and an irresponsible that media promotes sensationalized viewpoints to sell advertising.…
Unnecessary: Fear of dangerous Global Warming from man-made CO2 is dissipating with more recent scientific evidence and exposure of much bias, exaggeration of dangers and neglect of benefits of warming in existing scientific consensus. Any warming from CO2 is likely to be a harmless < 1 Deg Celsius by 2100. Higher predictions are only computer model speculations, arguably due to the modeller’s confessed ignorance of natural climate cycles.…
Ever since the Industrial Revolution started in the 1700s the emission of carbon dioxide has been the major problem for frequent occurrences of natural disasters because we are living in the time in which Earth is starting to warm up. Furthermore, carbon dioxide has taken its contribution as a major “greenhouse gas” in which it prevents heat from sunlight from escaping Earth. Because of the continuation of emission of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels such negative aspects are caused by a warm climate change such as melting of glaciers, stronger hurricanes, and more heat waves and…
First, carbon dioxide is not a pollutant as many claim. Carbon dioxide is good for plant life and is a natural constituent of the atmosphere. During Earth’s long history there has been more and less carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than we see today. Second, they claim that climate is stable and slow to change, and we are accelerating climate change beyond natural variability.…
The average global temperature has historically varied significantly creating periods of cooling (¡¥ice-ages¡¦) and warming. Evidence shows that the world¡¦s climate is warming. Africa¡¦s climate has warmed by about 0.5aC during the 20th century (Nkomo, Nyong & Lulindwa, 2006). The debate over if climate change is caused by humans or not is beyond the scope of this document, however it has been shown historically that there is a direct correlation between CO2 levels and global temperature (see Appendix 1). The Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change (2006) argues that urgent action needs to be taken to stabilise the CO2 levels in the atmosphere. At current CO2 output, this could result in a 2aC increase in average global temperature by 2050.…
Firstly, its knowledgeable that now people have to suffer the climate change resulted by the greenhouse effect caused by carbon dioxide. Genereally, carbon dioxide is absorbed by trees which can prevent the greenhouse effect. However, those filter machines are reducing continually and this will caused many troubles in which there is global warming. This will lead to climate change that will caused some trouble such as warmer temperature, wind direction change and higher sea level. Futhermore, a lot of carbon dioxide can pollute the environment and harmed the global health.…
