CNMT 410 was an interesting class to learn about the professional workplace. The discussions on time stealing interested me the most since I had no idea what some employers consider stealing time. Besides the discussions I learned a lot about producing quality work. Before this class my resume and cover letter would’ve been a joke. Most likely I would’ve taken a generic resume from Google. The resume wouldn’t have been very personal or showcase my experience. There would have been the exact same problem with the cover letter. I had no idea before this class that the cover letter was meant to be a personal letter from myself to the hiring manager. I always thought cover letters were more or less optional and just a generic short essay on who I was as a person. The quality of my work increased tenfold just from…
Participation in a club is seen as a part of a well-rounded person, and teenagers are told when they are applying for college that they will look more appealing if they have participated in many community changing clubs. As people get older they are asked to participate in a clubs ranging from parent-student clubs or book clubs. A club represents a way to enjoy oneself and work outside of one’s profession; it is known as an activity of high esteem. People who participate in clubs are often seen as people who have good time management and a big heart. Many clubs promote volunteer work, team activities, leadership, and help foster morality as well as good choices that will benefit a whole community. One of the specific reasons that clubs are seen as a positive part of our culture is because all school clubs consist of administration approved activities, and because of this it doesn’t allow for a negative club to be created. Clubs can only exist if apart of one of the following categories: fundraising, community service, career interest and interpersonal dynamic. Because of this the word “club” will never be associated with anything other than a group of people who want to divulge themselves into a hobby or service project. Clubs originated in the Victorian times in Britain, functioning as a place for men to attend lectures and participate in recreational activities. Over time they developed as a part of women’s culture (book club, sewing club, cooking club). This was especially true throughout times when women were supposed to be only the care takers of the house and children, as well as social with other mothers. Since then they have developed a connotation that pushes children and adults to be progressive, have a hobby outside of work, and enjoy themselves while (most of the time) helping…
This article, “The RU-486 Abortion Pill Should Be Available to Women”, was written by Laura Fraser in 2001 for the Greenhaven Press. The issue involved with this article is whether or not the RU-486 abortion pill should be available to women in the U.S.. The conclusion Fraser came up with was yes, the RU-486 abortion pill should be available to women in the U.S., and for plenty of reasons. For example, if mifepristone becomes available, it will remove political and practical barriers so women can get abortions and physicians will not have to perform complete abortions. Also, 54% of all…
VISIT TO ST LEONARDS HOUSE MEETING FOR AA GROUP I attended the ST Leonard House Alcoholics Anonymous, 12 points meeting. It is situated at 1105 Queen Street East, Brampton. The open meeting started at 8p.m and ran for about one hour long. This write-up is my reflection and observation about the meeting. I arrived about five minutes late as it took me some time to locate the exact place where the meeting was taking place.…
AA meeting was a very good learning opportunity for me and I benefited from it greatly I was amazed on how normal all the people looked and it really signified that honestly anyone could become and alcoholic and it can really mess up your life and make you so dysfunctional and take your life away I was amazed by all of their stories especially the story about how one of the men said that god is the only answer and it made me really realize that he is really and work in that place. I also saw a person that looked almost my same age and he had already been homeless and shot up heroine, it really blew my mind how many people in there were heroine attics. I can honestly say that the AA meeting changed my life…
I was a little nervous attending one of these meetings because I didn’t know what to expect but only know from television shows and movies. What is the reality though? I imagined and painted a picture of what an AA meeting would be like. I pictured a room full of people that were obvious addicts, unkept appearances, offensive hygiene and at least one person smelling of alcohol while moving back and forth in the chair. As I entered the room, my perspective laughed at me and as I looked around I was deceived. It was the complete opposite, most of the members of the group were clean, well-kept and looked healthy. I have never been a room full of worried people trying to stay sober because they started the road to sobriety. To keep their…
In my current position, as a house supervisor, I work with five other nurses to provide 24 hour coverage within our facility. As a group, we all have varying degrees of experience and range in age from the youngest member, in her mid-20s, to our oldest member who is 64 years old. Working within this multigenerational group has led to some difficulties in communication and expectations among members as I will expand upon further.…
My name is Tiffany Perdue. I’m currently seventeen years old and have lived in many places throughout my life. I have attended Newton High School on and off during my high school career and while here I have learned a few things. I have learned about the career path, about friendship, about the struggles of life, and mostly I have learned about myself and who I am.…
I had Many reservations about doing this assignment. I initially felt I was inappropriate for me to attend a meeting, when I have never had a problem with addiction. I felt that going to this meeting would be intruding on their healing processes, almost as if I was using them as lab rats, to further my own education. However, my opinion of this changed after expressing these concerns to a friend who is a recovering addict. They told me there is no reason to feel awkward, or guilty about going and observing, because I’m not going there for a negative reason, I’m going to learn, so that one day I can also assist in a person’s recover, if that’s the profession I choose.…
I have not applied an anti-bias curriculum yet, but there are a few times where I’ve encountered a situation where I could have used what I learned in these readings. The biggest problem I’ve encountered is when the appropriate time to educate the children about what they may have saw or why they don’t want to play with a particular child. This occurred, because I wasn’t educated enough myself on the situation. Another problem is, I had the preconceived notion that children as young as two don’t understand such concepts. From these readings and what I learned in other classes, children know a lot more then we know. From not knowing this, I came to the conclusion there was no need to teach or give children the opportunity to learn about…
The first week lesson was focused on the historical development of the Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) role and evidence-based practice from the perspective of various philosophical and theoretical foundations. In which I have learned about various roles and responsibilities of APN. As the scope of practice for APN is vary from state, I have explored the role and scope of practice of Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Texas. The second week lesson was focused on the complexity theory and selected skills, understandings, and integrative abilities of the APN and specialty nurse practitioner practice. In which I have learned about the APN’s leadership role in healthcare policy to facilitate best practices for diverse populations. It is important for APN…
The DEAL Model for Critical Reflection involves 3 steps: describe the experience objectively, examine the experience using reflections prompts based on learning goals and objectives, and articulate what was learned from experience to reconsider and reframe the learning experience through evaluation and critical reasoning. DEAL Model helps to examine work term experience through personal growth, civic learning, and academic enhancement.…
I agreed with you because not only the working class not only had to deal with the horrible working conditions and poor lifestyle, but also with their own government who did not care in the abuses until they revolt. This shows us that their leaders did not know how to control its own country and…
