The main difference between non-profit and for profit healthcare organizations are; Non-profit hospitals don’t need to pay property, sales or income taxes and receive grants from the government and through donations. They were designed to provide discounted fees for service or no fee to those in the surrounding communities with limited to no funds for healthcare, basically the poor or those who fall within the guidelines of those below poverty level. The tax exemptions that they receive also reduce the contribution to the community benefits. There has been a widely known study and some controversy that “20-80% of non-profit hospitals are failing to make the necessary societal contributions equal to the amount of taxes they are exempted from”. This paper will discuss the emerging management trends developing as a result of the increasing incidents of financial misappropriation and the associated reputation destruction resulting from recent scandals in nonprofit entities. Discussion will include the many possible considerations associated with increased fraud incidents in charitable nonprofits, including inconsistent statutory requirements based on the state of incorporation as well as outdated federal oversight requirements over 501(c)(3) organizations. The paper will research three key management theories and will draw a conclusion regarding the next evolution of management theory in nonprofit entities. This paper will summarize how one of the largest charities is handling this evolving area and will present a theory that one of the biggest areas of focus and awareness should be the expectation that nonprofits demonstrate to stakeholders, explicitly and measurably, that they are being effective and transparent in fulfilling their missions.…

On the one hand, the advantages for nonprofits’ advocacy are obvious. First, for nonprofits that could lobby, they should definitely advocate in the political arena because nonprofits have the potential power to make changes on public policy, which will have a huge influence on people’s life, such as food support. Nonprofits know what the community and the people care well than politicians do. Therefore, getting involved in lobbying, they teach politicians what the public cares most, which increase the possibility to create policy change that will benefit people. Second, nonprofits advocacy will also expand the influence and relationships, as well as building a better reputation for nonprofits. “Advocacy work can position nonprofit as the lead organization in an issue area and it can secure your organization’s place in leadership circles” (Avner 373). In addition, through nonprofits’ advocacy, more people may be persuaded, engaged and participated in political lives. To sum up, nonprofit advocacy “promote, protect, and support policies and reforms that have an impact on quality of life, community vitality, economic security, and justice” (Avner…
