The economic activity in these colonies, influenced the type of social structure established. In the southern colonies, the plantation owners were the top tier followed by the middle class farmers, indentured servants and finally the black slaves. Due to the economic activity in the south, slavery was essential and contributed to much of the population. However, in the northern colonies, due to the lack need for labor, slavery wasn’t as popular. Another significant difference between these two regions is that when people moved to the northern colonies they came in communities or families.…
To Linda’s considerable chagrin and bewilderment, Willy’s family, Charley, and Bernard are the only mourners who attend Willy’s funeral. She wonders where all his supposed business friends are and how he could have killed himself when they were so close to paying off all of their bills. Biff recalls that Willy seemed happier working on the house than he did as a salesman. He states that Willy had all the wrong dreams and that he didn’t know who he was in the way that Biff now knows who he is. Charley replies that a salesman has to dream or he is lost, and he explains the salesman’s undaunted optimism in the face of certain defeat as a function of his irrepressible dreams of selling himself. Happy becomes increasingly angry at Biff’s observations.…

Paying for community college can be a handful for some. While many can pay for college with financial aid, however a many students argue that they can’t afford to pay off tuition or the cost of books and material because it’s too expensive and they don’t attend community college. This is a serious issue for many people that want to earn a degree in a particular majors. Obama promotes the idea that community college should be free to attend and take class without the burden of paying for tuition or the overwhelming cost that students fear. With that statement gain more of an outcry of students agreeing on the idea and many others opposing of it. In the article by Joanne Jacobs, “As He Promotes It, Some Question Obama’s Free Community College Idea,” she discusses that there are pros and cons to both arguments.…
In the first place, college isn’t free, which is fairly significant. Public education is provided by property tax, which everyone who owns property pays a certain percentage. Not to mention, college was to become “free” property owner's taxes will increase.”When the students attending “free” college default on their student loan, the taxpayer will once again shoulder the burden” (Norton). He believes that taxpayers would be responsible for the cost of tuitions. As mentioned before if a student was to drop out of school the money for the most part is wasted and now the taxpayers’ problem. “Simply shifts costs from students to taxpayers’ and caps tuition at zero. That tuition cap limits college spending to whatever the general public is kind…
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Education has always been extraordinarily important to me, and for this reason, I believe I am qualified to receive this scholarship. Even from a young age, I took it upon myself to strive for the best, participating in spelling bees since the fourth grade, maintaining a 4.0 grade point average throughout middle school, and immersing myself entirely in academics during my high school career. Throughout school, I had two predominant goals that I continuously strived for: to graduate with a 4.0 grade point average and to be accepted into the college of my dreams. I accomplished both, becoming a senior scholar in my graduating class…
The cost of college education today is so high that many young people are giving up their dream of going to college, while many others are graduating deeply in debt “ Bernie Sanders.” Majority of college costs fall between college tuition and fees category. If college is essential for building a career and being a full participant in our democracy as high school once was, shouldn't it be free, paid for by public dollars People believe that colleges are a place to learn and students cannot do so if they cannot afford it. College tuition should be free because to lessen student debt, lower dropout rate, and help graduates be successful. .…
Education is an important aspect of my life. The problem, however, is that it is free until college, which is unfortunate. I have always wanted to further my education to secure a decent career, yet I am now worried about university costs. I consider any scholarship awarded to be beneficial and will lead me toward a useful degree since my family has some financial difficulties.…
In the article “ students share strategy to avoid debt” by Mark Gormus states that “ the average student graduates owing $27,000” (Gormus). This provides that most students will owe a large amount after college. This leads to grants and scholarships because those are the ones you can get money without having to pay you back. Santa Lucia, an example in his articles show that “ I would apply for 10 to 20 scholarships at a time.” (11). Also, it would be easier to get more money because there are scholarships for people that have family members with cancer, have ADHD, and for people that might be only 5 feet tall (11). This shows that there are many scholarships out there, but you just have to look for…

College is FREE! What? Would it be grand if college was free to all citizens in the United States. "A college education is not a luxury, it is an necessity” -Andrew Cuomo (Friedman, Z.). College should be free or reduced to all who want to go. Educated people tend to make smart decisions and this world could use a few. If the current costs of college were reduced or provided at no charge, as it is done in other countries, then more Americans could receive more training, people could graduate debt free, and this could make the economy stronger.…
