B. This is a unclassified NCO History presentation.
C. I will be covering the NCO’s of 1865 to 1925. We will be looking at how they trained what weapons they used, the discipline they adhered into their soldiers and the hero’s that were made.

F. This research has been along time coming. I will continue this research long after this paper has been finished. What a proud history we have here in the NCO corps.
II. Body.
A. 1865-1885 Ready for Patrol: NCO’s were a stern bunch during this time frame of America 's history. Pre-combat checks were the new order of the day “Experienced eyes ran over carbines, uniforms, boots, bridles, saddles, and cartridge belts and looked in every knapsack and saddlebag”.
B. 1885-1905, the hospital stewards era. A great chance for the NCO to excel and have a career outside of being just Trooper.
C. 1905-1925, the era Civic Action and the jump to 704 Military Occupational Specialties, SGT Alvin York time.

B. The noncommissioned officer corps went through their most significant changes from 1865-1925. Trooper (Indian fighter to Civic action specialist). During this whole time holding together the force by training, discipline, and pure examples of selfless service to this great nation.

TROOPER TO SOLDIER
Noncommissioned Officers have been an extremely important combat multiplier from the beginning of the Spanish – American war to the end of World War I. They have trained the American fighting soldier as a Trooper then to a Soldier. The
