Gay Related Immunodeficiency Disease (GRID), was the name given to a rare cancer that had dominated in the homosexual community. The year was 1981, forty-one was the number of homosexuals that had been infected by the disease. The disease was sexually transmitted among the homosexuals, it was spreading like a plague. In the early eighties, gay visibility and civil rights were ignored. Homosexuals were considered as a disgrace in the community. The Government itself didn’t recognize them to an extent of ignoring how much the disease had spread. They were afraid to admit they had an epidemic that was spreading. The normal heart is a movie that shows the struggles homosexuals went through to get to where they are now. Its vital for every person to watch this movie because it will help in appreciating other people and know how much cruelty governments are capable of. Gay people had to come up with their own communities. Ned weeks portrayed by actor mark Ruffalo was the only gay activist brave enough to raise his voice about AIDS. He was both an activist and a writer. He founded the AIDS advocacy group. He went ahead and publicized a couple times on the Times magazine. His friends were offended by His actions and thought He was being too aggressive. He preferred loud public confrontation to calmer ones. In the movie, we see how Ned was out spoken and fought harder for gay rights than any other person.
