Norrist Reflection
I think Marist is a good match for me because Marist offers many classes that will further expand my knowledge. Moreover, when I visited the Marist campus I fell in love with the feel of the campus and the atmosphere. Even though I grew up close to the campus it still feels like I'm away from home.

Boston University is a good fit for me because it offers a wide range of opportunities that stand out to me compared to many other colleges around the world. The internship opportunities that allow me to be either at home or with the potential to be sent around the world is an amazing idea. Specifically the Yawkey Nonprofit Internship Program because it provides me a way to improve the quality of life for families and children around the Boston area or at even greater distances. The engineering program caught my eye because of the study abroad options in many other countries. Also the idea of having a sophomore project is something unique and that it is done in groups to build the skills of group work. One of the main features that has led…

Yale appeals to me because of all the amazing opportunities that it offers. I'm looking to go onto medical school and I know after extensive research that Yale offers me the opportunities as a pre-med student that I need in order to make my dream of becoming a doctor a reality. Yale offers a great amount of assistance such as health professions advising, career advising, and tutoring which isn't something that all colleges usually prioritize so I genuinely appreciate it especially because I realize that being a pre-med student at any college will prove to be demanding and rigorous.…

Reflection allows an individual to identify the reasons or purpose of understanding the outcome of a particular situation in depth in term of emotions on thought and feeling on the topic area. In addition, Reflection is something that we do implicitly as part of being human, underpinning our identities through a process of negotiation between our sense of self and our experiences of others (Demetriou, 2000, p.210). Therefore, I have implemented this quote in my professional and personal goals I wanted and have achieved thought-out the process of the module. Growing up I have always wanted to go to NYU. I have always known it was a very prestigious, but unlike ivy league it allowed you to grow with creativity. I feel as though there is no other university/college that fits me personally in every aspect. Though I am undecided I do know that when I am ready to pick a major there is an array for me to choose from. In addition, being a student in New York, but specifically at NYU, helps to connect to other…

The community that I am most close to is my school community. Most of us share a common religion and unique abilities to serve others. When I first joined the St. Francis DeSales community I did not know what to expect. Going from a public school to a private catholic school was a big step for me. When I entered St. Francis DeSales for the first time, I was welcomed with open arms and hearts. I was surprised how well everybody knew each other and came from different backgrounds. I was joining a community of friendship and common beliefs. Now being a senior, I am proud to say that the community at DeSales is strong and friendly towards others. We are there for each other and help each other out during the tough times. When someone is…

On May 17, 9th through 12th grade students in My Mental Health Matters (MMHM), a new club at State High, presented May’s Straight Talk session. MMHM is a student-formed club that aims to erase the stigma attached to issues surround mental health. Under the guidance of high school counselors Patty Devecka and Suzanne Lyke, Jana Marie Foundation’s President Marisa Vicere, and State High alumnus Shawn Bainbridge, members strive to bring awareness to common feelings of doubt or helplessness and most importantly, to let students know that they are never alone in the State High halls. Their Straight Talk presentation covered the importance of mental health awareness from a student perspective. The students responsible for forming MMHM were moved by troubling results from the most recent Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS), which reflected alarmingly high rates of depression and suicidal ideation. They identified that the importance of physical health receives a great deal of attention, but mental health is often neglected. The…

Throughout my time reading this book I have really grown fond of Mr. Strobel. He asks the most detailed and thoughtful questions. Questions that I have thought of but I have not taken the time to develop them like he has. I really enjoyed chapters six through ten, but mainly chapter eight. I love psychological perspectives especially relating it back to things such as faith. In the book, there is a section titled “Raving Mad.” This made me really interested in reading about this subject. I continued into diving into this idea of “Raving Mad.” He goes on to explain that we do not “see obvious signs of delusion in Jesus” (Strobel 158.) He wonders what people who had a closer viewpoint of Jesus thought. Many said that they did in fact believe…

This essay will reflect upon an incident in practice when I administered a drug to a child. I will use Gibbs reflective model (Gibbs 1988)(see appendix 1). This model of reflection will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought and relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion on the incident will include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the administration of the drug. A conclusion to the essay will then be given which will discuss my knowledge and competence of the incidence being reflected upon.…
