Abstract
1. The invention brings out an apparatus and method for analyzing bacteria. The apparatus includes a section for preparing an analyte sample from specimen and a detector to detect optical information from each particle in this analyte sample. It also has a controller to detect the non-fermentative bacteria on the basis of detected optical information. Furthermore the invention also gives a method for analyzing bacteria.

2. The present patent provides improved apparatus and method for analyzing bacteria in the given specimen more simply and rapidly than the conventional techniques. The main characteristic of this invention is the apparatus which gives an optical information of each particle of analyte sample due to which one can easily detect whether the bacteria is fermentative or non-fermentative.
