Vi har fået til opgave, at lave en markedsbeskrivelse af Novo Nordisk A/S i Sydafrika.
Novo Nordisk er en virksomhed, der producerer insulin til diabetikere, men vil forsøge at komme ind i det Sydafrikanske marked, med en medicin der forbygger HIV/aids. De vil dog sælge medicinen billigere til kunderne i starten, da de i fremtiden håber at Sydafrika kan få stabiliseret deres økonomi. Dermed vil Novo Nordisk kunne få den tabte fortjeneste tilbage 10-20 år ude i fremtiden. Der er i dag omkring 5 millioner smittede i Sydafrika, hvilket svarer til næsten 20 % af den sydafrikanske befolkning. Nu her forventes tallet være 12 millioner der er ramt af diabetes syd for Sahara i Afrika.
Novo Nordisk A/S har et datterselskab, ved navn Novo Nordisk Scandinavia AB. De tager sig af salg og markedsføring af medicin og hjælpemidler til det danske, svenske og norske marked. Al forsikring, udvikling og produktion foregår i det danske moderselskab Novo Nordisk A/S
Deres Vision er at være verdens førende virksomhed inden for diabetesbehandling, og deres mål er at overvinde diabetes ved at finde bedre metoder til forebyggelse, diagnose og behandling.

Energikilder: I Sydafrika bygger de energiforsyningen på kulkraft som den vigtigste energikilde. På kul kan Sydafrika også udvinde olie som også er en af deres vigtigste energikilder, og i 1997 begyndte de en off shore-udvinding (boreplatforme) ved byen Mossel Bay på sydkysten. I Western Cape har de også et atomkraftværk som udvinder en stor del af deres elektricitet. Selvom Sydafrikas forbrug af elektricitet er på højde med de fleste lande i Vesteuropa, er der stadig mange familier der bor i huse uden elektricitet. Via de mange store dæmninger der er blevet bygget, har vandkraft også fået en stor betydning som deres energikilde. Det bruges til kunstvanding, til at føre vand frem til byer og til elproduktion.

    The PRECEDE-PROCEED model is a comprehensive structure that helps health program planners, policy makers, and evaluators analyze situations and design an efficient health promotion and public health program. Gestational diabetes is when a woman experiences diabetes only while pregnant and it goes away after the birth of her child. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body 's immune system destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, which would usually make insulin that is used by the body to monitor blood sugar levels. Type 2 diabetes is when the body produces insulin, but the amount is not adequate enough or the body is not efficient in using the insulin that it has. Type 1 and type 2, diabetes affects the body in the same fashion, leaving no way to regulate blood sugar, diabetic’s blood sugar levels can sky rocket and be extremely dangerous.
