Key Terms
TCP/IP network - is the basic communication language or protocol of the Internet. It can also be used as a communications protocol in a private network (either an intranet or an extranet).
Networking Standard- is in short a reference model to make sure products of different vendors can work together in a network; The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) lays out those standards.
TCP / IP Model - provides end-to-end connectivity specifying how data should be formatted, addressed, transmitted, routed and received at the destination. This functionality has been organized into four abstraction layers which are used to sort all related protocols according to the scope of networking involved.[1][2] From lowest to highest, the layers are the link layer, containing communication technologies for a single network segment (link), the internet layer, connecting hosts across independent networks, thus establishing internetworking.
Open Networking Model - is a conceptual model that characterizes and standardizes the internal functions of a communication system by partitioning it into abstraction layers.
Open Systems - is a standard description or "reference model" for how messages should be transmitted between any two points in a telecommunication network.
Interconnection (OSI) Model - is a conceptual and logical layout that defines network communication used by systems open to interconnection and communication with other systems.
