I was recently asked to design an inventory control system for my sisters clothing company. She has expressed that it is hard to keep up with the tracking and ordering of the more popular items. A computer of adequate computing power to support this system can be purchased from many companies. An example is a Hewlett Packard computer that has a price of $449 (Hewlett Packard 2014). For a barcode scanner they can range greatly in price depending on how many lasers it utilizes and durability from $32.90 up to over $800 (barcodesinc 1994-2014). The software as mentioned earlier can be acquired for free. To find free inventory control software I would recommend extensive research of a few programs and try to read some reviews and ask some questions about them. Quickbooks can be purchased to track inventory and even help with accounting. Quickbooks can be obtained from Amazon.com for as low as $272 (Amazon.com 1996-2014). A service like Tally Soft can be purchased but pricing is quoted after discussing it with a representative. Virus protection comes in many different forms for the level of protection you need. Norton is a company I use and like that I would recommend. A basic package costs $45 but being a business that will use customers credit information I would recommend the highest form of protection that costs $114 for two
