Public meetings are meetings that are highly structured events and are held by public committees, statutory bodies and by public companies where shareholders have the right to attend and participate.
They are called to meet statutory requirements, in accordance with provisions of the Corporations Law or the Constitution of a corporation, club or association. They are generally structured, require formal documents to be prepared prior to the meeting, follow standing orders strictly, are directed by a chairperson, follow an agenda precisely, have proceedings accurately recorded in the minutes.
