Note: It is suggested that you only upgrade Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 from Ghost Solution Suite 2.0.x.
If you have an older version, please upgrade to Ghost Solution Suite 2.0 first then upgrade to 2.5.
If you choose to upgrade from a previous version, there is a possibility of loosing your console database. Here are instructions for backing up previous versions: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/on-technology.nsf/docid/2001050812540225?Open&seg=ent
1. First, back up your Ghost database for good measure. Once you upgrade, you will not be able to restore your database to the form that was used by a previous version of Ghost. …show more content…
See the document “Ghost console database backup and restore tools” (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/on-technology.nsf/docid/2007121015451160?Open&seg=ent) to download a utility that will automate the backup of your Ghost database.
2. You must provide a Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 Symantec License File (SLF) to register the Ghost Console. You will NOT be able to use the older method of serial number and activation key or the SLF from version 2.0 to register the 2.5 Console. For more information about your SLF for Ghost Solution Suite 2.5, contact Licensing at 888.727.8671. When you are satisfied with the number of client licenses you have from .SLF files alone, proceed to the next step.
Note: For a walk-through on downloading your SLF from the Symantec Licensing Portal, see the document Licensing Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.X.

3. Download the upgrade from https://fileconnect.symantec.com/ by entering your 2.5 serial number. The result should be an .EXE file. When you double click on it, the contents will be extracted to a folder in the same location and the installation will start automatically.
4. Once the installation is completed, register Ghost: a. From the Ghost Conosle, click on Help > Register Console... b. Specify the Ghost .SLF file you want to use. c. Repeat for any other Ghost .SLF files. Ghost should then be registered for the total number of licenses that you have applied.
5. You may also have to reassociate the Console Client computers with the new console. See the document http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/on-technology.nsf/docid/2001121715570925?Open&seg=ent
