Nt1330 Unit 5 Lab Report
5. Experimental Setup of the SRM Drive using Matlab Simulink The experimental setup is shown in Figures 5 and 6. Shows the GA-PID and ACO-PID controllers for a 3-phase 60KW SRM motor which are implemented & simulated by using Matlab-Simulink software program. Motor parameters used for simulation are given in Table 1. Tables 2 and 3 shows the GA-PID and ACO-PID controller’s parameters. the response of Kp, Ki and Kd parameters are summarized on table 4 which shows that the proportional controller “Kp” will have the effect of reducing rise time and will reduce the steady state error while the integral controller “Ki” will have the effect of eliminating the steady state error but will have the worst transient response on a system while the derivative …show more content…
So changing one of them will lead to change the other two.

6. Simulation Results To explore the effectiveness of the proposed techniques, computer simulation has been carried out. The conventional PID, GA-PID and ACO-PID controllers were simulated using Matlab-Simulink software on a PC. In the simulation software package, operation of the entire system [i.e. the working of the voltage source inverter, switches operation, position of the rotor, reference and actual speed values, speed error and change in the error] can be observed.

Figure 8 shows the variable step input (Speed) and the motor actual output speed after using PID controller

Figure 9 shows the delay on the output of the motor with reference step input when using PID

Therefore, space vector control methods have been strongly developed. In this case, not only angular speed (frequency) and magnitudes of flux, current and voltage vectors, but also instantaneous position of these vectors is controlled. This ensures excellent dynamic and stable steady state operation of space vector control methods.…

An electric machine is a device that can convert either mechanical energy to electrical energy or electrical energy to mechanical energy. When such a device is used to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy, it is called a generator. When it converts electrical energy to mechanical energy, it is called a motor. Transformer is a device that converts electrical energy to electrical energy from one level to other level.…

PI control conveyed better speed reaction in both for 1500 rpm and 1000 rpm reference speeds, and for all speeds. The paper unmistakably demonstrates that an itemized near investigation of the drive execution ought to dependably be performed when another sort of a pace controller is proposed as a substitution for the PI controller. Examination in view of a solitary working point or a solitary transient is more than clearly deficient.…

    (b) Assume that PID controller, K (s)  K P  K I / s  K D s , is selected to compensate the requirement of system stability and zero steady state error to unit step input, use the Routh-Hurwitz test to show that a cascade of PID controller with the original plant and unity negative feedback configuration can meet the requirements. Remember that the system must be stabilized first before the consideration of steady state error.…

There are many forms of PID controller implementations such as a stand-alone controller or Distributed Control System (DCS). PID Controller is a feedback based controller which gets the error output based on the characteristics of the error and gives good result.PID is used in a closed loop. It has three elements P, I, D. The PID controller is by far the most commonly used Controller Strategies in the process control industry. Its widespread use is attributed to its simple structure and robust performance over a wide range of operating conditions. PID control is implemented as either stand-alone. Every parameter has gain by which we control the contribution, or control systems.…
