Nunavut
These provinces have been known to not have the strongest economies for a couple of reasons. The unemployment rates are the highest, and the populations are the lowest in the country. Some say that the economies of these provinces are not great because of how spread out people are in all the provinces. People live in a lot of small communities in the Maritimes; this makes it more expensive for sectors like education, healthcare and transportation to be carried out. Also a lot of people do not have permanent work because they are a fisherman which is a seasonal job and makes a lot of people dependent on government funding. Also in these provinces there is a higher percentage of people working for the government, which isn’t making the provinces self-sufficient. However these provinces are really making improvements by utilising their natural resources and strengthening their businesses. They are taking steps in the right direction.
Obviously, higher employment rates among the Inuit people will be beneficial to the local economy but how do you think citizens being employed with affect other aspects of their lives.
