Nurse Unionization In Nursing

I will acknowledge her concerns, being a single parent and also worrying about financial issues and work at the same time can be stressful. It has been a problem for nurses to come to grip with their feelings about unionization, they viewed them as the trouble making group, and It is hard to find objective reading materials about it, some are neutral, objective or bias (Cherry & Jacob, 2011). Therefore; based on my knowledge about unionization, I will let Wendi know that being in a union will benefit the nurses in her hospital by strengthening their position in the relationship between management and labor. Also, it will improve the general welfare of nurses, by providing a quality work environment, protect nurses and patient safety (Cherry
& Jacob, 2011). I agree that a strike would compromise patient care, it is a symbol of negative behavior, but before a strike, a ten days notice of intent is required, the threat of a strike has been useful in gaining a concession from management in other to avoid the strike (Cherry & Jacob, 2011). The hospitals are concerned when census drops just a few percent. Therefore a strike against them will mean to turn patients away possibly, and they can lose market share permanently( Cherry & Jacob, 2011). I would encourage her to consider her situation, her work environment and the quality of patient care being provided before making a decision.
