Due to medical reasons I was unable to sit all of my exams in 2016, aside from English Language, which I achieved an A in. This is why I feel the Foundation Course would be a perfect fit for me, as it would offer me the knowledge, skills and confidence required to then successfully transition to the first year of a nursing degree.

To further my insight into working in a healthcare environment, I am currently completing a Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support. As part of my course I work full time at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as an Aspiring Nurse Apprentice. During this time I have gained a valuable understanding of the workings of a hospital ward, with the opportunity to learn first-hand the responsibilities and pressures of nursing. Furthermore, I have been able to observe and speak to my senior colleagues regarding a career in nursing. Since starting I have gained extensive knowledge in a variety of areas including how to work in a person-centred way, effective communication, infection control and safeguarding.
