I interviewed three residents that I’ve befriended since being employed at the facility. First, Nancy spoke to me about how she doesn’t really feel that moving into a nursing home abridged her sense of privacy or independence. She believes this is so because she had a large part in deciding when it was time to move and where she wanted to go. She mentions that this isn’t always the case for each resident at the home. Next, I chatted with Maria about her experience in NLC. Maria told me that she believes moving into NLC was the right decision after her husband, Norman, passed away several years ago. She wanted to have more opportunities to be social with people and keep her mind sharp. She is satisfied that she is capable of completing this since she resides of NLC. I would first try to depend on my husband or family to care for me. However, if push comes to shove, I believe that Nazareth Living Center would be a good fit for me. Although the costs of nursing homes seems to be consistently increasing, I believe that sacrificing my finances in exchange for care and companionship is well worth it. I admire how willing the residents are to meet new people and try new things despite their age (and sometimes limitations, mental or physical). The people who reside at Nazareth really do try to step out of their box and make others feel welcome and apart of the big family. I feel that a sense of belonging would be one of my most prioritized desires when I’m older and I’m confident that Nazareth Living Center is capable of fulfilling my expectations.
In conclusion, Nazareth Living Center offers a wide range of services, a good reputation, and is an overall safe place for the elderly to reside in. The excellent services and amenities are well worth the cost of residing there. The comfort, security, and confidence are often synonymous with how the residents feel about the nursing home. I can confidently state that Nazareth Living Center fulfil their core missions and values: sacredness, integrity, hospitality, and collaboration. I genuinely believe that the companionship and understand is mutual between all who have visited
